Streaming Quality Issue

Jump to Best Response

When I first started using Stadia Pro the streaming quality was great. Recently it has been non-stop poo quality. I'm playing on Android with a 100mb/s connection streaming at 1080p. It used to be flawless. It is constantly low quality and every so often will spaz out and be unplayable for a couple minutes. The latency is still very low, but the overall quality has gone downhill.

Stadia doesn't limit use of the service, so I can assure you that this is not the problem. Also, if they were, it would likely not be in bursts, it would be consistent. It would be more likely that your ISP would be doing it if you were being limited.

Internet speed isn't necessarily the most important thing as latency and connection quality are very important for Stadia. When streaming videos, you have a buffer where the video is partially pre-loaded so that you won't see any temporary issues with service.

Could you please do a speed check with the following site (https://speed.cloudflare.com/) and let me know what your speed, latency and jitter are showing?

Also, could you confirm whether you have set up port triggering for ports 44700 - 44899 for both UDP and TCP?

Hi AdmiralGiggles! That's right, I gave you a promotion!

I haven't seen any changes on the quality of streaming on Android recently... Have you made any changes or updates to either your network of phone recently?

Also are you currently using WiFi for your phone or mobile internet?

No I haven't made any changes to my internet or Stadia settings. I am using my WiFi when streaming games on my phone. I run my phone in Samsung Dex mode 95% of the time. That has no interference what so ever in regards to the performance of my internet. I stream in 1080p and the quality looks more like 480-720p, 720 at best for brief periods of time. During random times in my streaming sessions the quality will flicker almost as if my connection to stadia drops drastically and the controller latency goes through the roof and doesn't register inputs very well during this spaz session. As stated before, my internet is 100mb/s. I have no problem streaming 4k videos, playing games, and letting someone else watch some 4k movies at the same time. All on the same internet. Stadia states you only need around 10-15mb/s down for streaming. I have 10x the required speeds. I recently jumped ship from Xbox Cloud because the latency was absurd. Stadia has phenomenal latency as far as registering inputs. There is very little delay. However the main concern is the quality takes a massive dump on itself. It feels like Stadia is throttling my connection to them due to how much I use the service.

Speed test ran fine. 105mb/s Down, 11mb/s Up. 30m/s latency, 5m/s Jitter. The port forwarding is a bit of an issue as I have a router directly from Spectrum themselves. Meaning my ability to open ports is limited to single ports at a time. I am unable to port forward a range of ports. However that shouldn't affect anything realisticaly. I am not running Stadia on Windows and do not have the same amount of resistance when receiving connections and such. Android phones do not have firewalls or any sort of connection blocker or internet protection. Port forwarding is generally used when a connection is being blocked by your firewall, refusing the connection. Android phones do not have this issue. I have also checked with my internet provider, and no, they do not throttle internet or slow anyone down. They are one of the few that have no limits.
