Stadia believes 1 controller are 2

When I connect my ps4 controller to Stadia (the latest  Android tv version on my Nvidia Shield TV Pro) it believes I'm having two controllers connected.

So on local multiplayer games like Rayman Legend and Cake Bash it will be attached to both player 1 and 2 (but only control player 2).

If I connect a second ps4 controller it believes I'm having 4 controllers connected to stadia (but only control player 4).

This does not happen in other gaming apps (steam link and local Android games run fine with the controllers).

I've reinstalled stadia, reconnecting the controllers to my shield and even did a factory reset on the ps4 controller. Nothing seems to work...

@Nicsti Just want to check, how are you connecting your PS4 controller to Stadia? Are you using the official dualshock 4 controller?

Yes. They're both official DualShock 4. Connected through Bluetooth.

@Nicsti Ah got it. I don't have Nvidia Shield so never tried that method. So usually for connecting non Stadia controller to play Stadia on TV is by connecting through phone. Can you try the following steps and see if it works?

Look under 'How to connect your controller' (tried pasting here but the formatting was messed up)

Thank you for the suggestion.
I tried connecting the controlled through my phone and it works :slightly_smiling_face:

But it's kind of a hassle having to disconnect the controllers from my Nvidia Shield TV, Connecting them to my phone, then connecting it to my Nvidia Shield again through my phone for it to work.
(the controllers are usually directly connected to my Nvidia Shield TV through Bluetooth and works fine with other Apps like Steam Link, Xbox Game Cloud and Android Games)

Questions that I could usually ask, do you have the device rooted? Do you have an application to remap buttons?
What appears in the connected devices interface in android settings? What appears in the connected Stadia controllers interface?
Do you have any NVIDIA Shield controller? (as these can be set to active listening so they don't turn off).

If possible, try other controls, disconnecting all peripherals that you currently have linked and try methods such as those mentioned to connect it through the mobile to Stadia or try plugging the controls by cable instead of bluetooth if it is possible, to discard possible options.

The device is not rooted.

Yes, I use a button remap app. I tried turning it off but the result is the same.

Under bluetooth devices on my Nvidia Shield TV (Android TV) it shows two wireless controllers.
In Stadia on the other hand it shows 4. When I disconnect one of them it shows two.

I don't have any Shield Controllers. Only a Shield remote.

I tried using a USB-cable instead of Bluetooth, but the result is the same.

I tried some official Xbox Controllers, and they work fine. It only happens with the PS4 Dualsock controllers.

Connecting the PS4 Controllers through phone also seems to work fine. But I don't want to do that everytime I'm using Stadia.
As I mentioned: they work perfectly fine in other apps like Steam Link, Xbox Game Cloud, Android games etc.. Stadia is the only app where my controllers show up as twice as many.

It seems to be something specific to the PS4 controller and perhaps the configuration you have on your Nvidia Shield, unfortunately I do not have a controller to know if it is a matter of the Nvidia Shield firmware or its own configuration. If you can try to uninstall that remapping application.
Perhaps the Stadia app detects something else that other apps fail to detect.

If you have the opportunity, I would tell you to try to format Nvidia Shield and not install any application or to try the PS4 controller on another Android TV device, since you mention that if you connect to the mobile you do not get a duplicate controller.

I tried uninstalling the button remapping app. The result is still the same.

Formatting will be a last solution for my part. I'll try out some other things first (or just buy the same games on steam instead)
But thank you for taking the time to try to help me :slightly_smiling_face:
