My stadia app keeps crashing after i open it (within 9 seconds) and it is preventing me from adding my controller to wifi or adding my account to my chromecast

I have just tried adding a different google account to the stadia app and it seems to prevent the app from crashing which allows me to connect my controller to wifi.
But the app still does not detect my chromecast ultra. Please help

@deandrefam Which version of iPhone and iOS are you using? Which version of the Stadia app are you using? Can you go to the app store and check if there's an update available?
For iOS app, when app is crashing, usually it needs an update.
iPhone 12 mini with the latest OS and latest Stadia app available. I've tried uninstalling, restarting my phone, changing all the settings and reenabling everything. The app still crashes with my email address for some reason and when it doesn't (eg. using another google account that's not my main), it still won't let me connect my account to my chromecast ultra
We have the same problem here, no crashing but t still won't let me connect my account to my chromecast ultra.
On IOS latest version.
The crashing has been happening for weeks now for me, despite the Stadia app updating a couple times
Looks like an update was released for Stadia today on iOS and the chromecast not appearing issue has been fixed, however the app still crashes and the only solution for me to is to switch to an different account and then switch back to my mine as that seems to stop the crashing for a little bit

I'm sorry that you've been having these issues for weeks now. I know how frustrating that can be.
I see that you have made sure to double check for App updates, which is awesome. Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the app? I've noticed that sometimes that even with updates a full delete and reinstall can help the app run better.
Let me know if you are still having any problems after this and we can look into more options.

Hi @JamesFromGoogle - my issue with connecting my Stadia account to my chromecast has been fixed but my app continues to crash periodically. I have tried deleting the app and reinstalling but it has not helped.

Hi James - please do not close this thread as I am still experiencing this issue with the iphone app despite all your team’s recommendations to troubleshoot.
Is there no fix being worked on for this? Clearly from all the new comments, this is not a unique issue to me and it’s astonishing this crashing bug is still happening after almost a year now.
Just trying to setup mine today and I’ve tried it in my iPad and iPhone and both crash as soon as I open the app. Pretty rubbish as my stadia premier edition with controller and chrome cast is basically useless and my free trial is using up days while I can’t use it

To better help us with this issue, could anyone who is experiencing this issue confirm that they are on the latest iOS update of 15.1? Also I see most people are saying that the app is crashing almost immediately upon opening. Is that the case for everyone here? If not, could you please provide details on what is happening? Confirmed I am on ios 15.1 and the app is fully updated. App crashes almost immediately when opened. My only workaround is logging out into a different stadia account and then logging back in to my main account. This seems to fix it for a few minutes but it might take a couple tries of switching profiles like this for the app to not crash immediately. Eventually the app will crash again at a later use.
I figured out my problem. Having a vpn on my phone made it crash when trying to login and setup the controller. I switched it off, set up the controller and then turned it back on and now I can use the app as normal even with the vpn on
Hi I have been facing this problem on the iPhone all the way back using iPhone SE now I have the iPhone 12 and the issue has not gone away I am rather technical and have tried the basic troubleshooting steps.
As far as I know there hasn’t been a fix and it’s quite exhausting I have been unable to set up a new controller in another room thus far the app keeps crashing it has been unusable for over six months I’ve been on Stadia since November 2020
Stadia team… this is really getting frustrating. Got a backup controller, and the app won’t stay open long enough to set it up. I’m a Founder, and have never seen this kind of issue, and definitely never seen the team take this long for a fix. Please help.

ps. if only there was a way to delete cache on iphone for the app like android. i think iphone are having this prob because of the OS and idk how to fix this.
