Hi, so I've used the PS3 sixaxis and dualshock 3 controllers on stadia successfully before on Stadia in Chrome on PC.
However I got a PS3 phone holder mount recently and when plugged in, Android games that support gamepad seem to work fine, and so does Geforce Now, bit I recently tried it with the Stadia app and games seem to recognize it as a Playstation controller so I see shape button prompts instead of ABXY, but L2 and R2 along with analog sticks (L3 and R3 ok somehow) don't seem to work.
This post seemed to suggest that it these controllers can indeed work with the Stadia App, so I'm thinking it could be my device or a bug with the current version of the app?
I have a stadia controller so I could totally get an orzly mount, if I really wanted.
@Typijay PS3 controller is not officially supported to be used for playing games in Stadia, so you may encounter odd behaviours. To check the officially supported controllers, you can refer to the article below:

Otherwise, definitely use the Stadia controller. It's my 2nd favorite controller after the PS5 dual sense controller ![]()
I just realized my phone was upside down in landscape mode, and that was causing the issue. Turning off auto-rotate or having the phone just so that the top is facing left makes it so that analog sticks and L2/R2 registet properly
