Android TV Controller Issue

Jump to Best Response

Having a weird issue with Android TV:

When I start a game it loads and asks for controller. I can see the intro in the background, so it starts correctly.

The moment I connect a controller (Xbox one wired, or ipega Bluetooth) the game stops and I get kicked to the stadia home screen.

GeForce now has no problem with the above peripherals, they work well with the tv.

Anyone have ideas what could be the issue?

  • Android TV 8, Philips 55PUS7303/12, should be latest firmware
  • Xbox one controller for PC, used with USB connection
  • Ipega 9167 as Bluetooth controller.

Thanks.

Hi @Waycent,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.
Are you connecting the controller up front before launching the game?
Did you try starting the Stadia app on Android TV and first connect a controller before launching a game.

I am afraid your TV is not officially supported as can be found on THIS support page.
According to this support website: Philips® Android TVs from 2019 (7304 and higher) and 2020 (8505 and higher)

I am aware that the TV is not officially supported, but was hoping it would work, as it has VP9 decoding. Games start fine (can see in the background when it asks for a controller pairing) if I have no controller connected.

Tried both controllers connected before and after launching a game, and also triggered from tv and from phone. It just closes the game and goes back to the start game screen. Either immediately if a controller is present, or after I connect one.

Was hoping that it is something fixable down the road, as it does not seem to be a streaming issue. Would like to switch to proper 4k without buying extra devices. Keeping to DEX until then :slightly_smiling_face:

@Waycent@Waycent can you say something more? Have you managed to play on this TV since then? You downloaded Stadia apps from Google Play, right? I have the same TV, the latest software, etc., but for me, after starting the Stadia application, I can only see the first screen with the logo and nothing else ...: / How does it look for you now? sorry for mistakes - translate google ;d greetings.

Pozdrawiam

Hi, it got working by itself since then, they probably fixed my issue automatically with an update. I did not change anything on my side.

Can confirm that everything works fine with the app from the store, even 4k if you have the subscription, and both wired XBox controller and Blutooth (iPega, 8bitdo) work.
