2 Different Stadia Apps

Jump to Best Response

I have 2 different Stadia apps. One is red, the other is white. Which is the one I should be using?

On iOS, the white icon with red "S" is the Stadia app used to set up controllers and access the store. The red icon with white "S" is the installable web app that's used to actually play games on the iPhone or iPad. I ended up deleting it and recreating it so I could rename that one "Stadia Play" to make it easier to differentiate.

Why not Zoidberg?

Hi @ViperChick

On Desktop? On Android, exist only 1 app.

@ViperChick can you provide screenshot of what you see? My first guess would be that, assuming you're on Android, one is the native app that you downloaded from Play Store, and the other is the one installed from Chrome browser ad Progressive Web Apps. But I just tried installing both and they have the same color.

It could be that the other one is an unofficial app, which you should be careful in using (since we don't know what it does). Just to be safe, make sure to only use the app downloaded from Play Store or iOS app.

@Ivan screenshot posted. The layout is slightly different also. The menu is at the bottom on 1 and on the other it’s on the top.

@JohnZoidberg @I have been using the red app but when I checked the Apple App Store only the white icon app is available. I have tried using the white icon app and it says to use Chromecast with it. I was unsuccessful initially a month ago trying to set up Chromecast when I wanted to use my TV as a monitor.  I tried casting through AppleTV but the latency is bad. I casted directly to my TV and didn’t have latency issues. Both red and white apps have the store and the “play” icon available for the games I have.

@ViperChick just to confirm, are you using Chromecast Ultra or regular Chromecast when you're trying to cast?

Playing games on TV is only supported using Chromecast Ultra

@Ivan @No.. there are so many Google Chromecast apps I did not know which one to choose. I’m on iOS. The Apple App Store doesn’t list Chromecast Ultra as a product that is available.
