Remember that it isn't just the 4K aspect that Chromecast Ultra has over the older 1080P Chromecast, the hardware inside the Ultra is significantly more powerful in general and it may be that it will never be up to the standards needed for a good Stadia experience even at 1080P.
So while it's possible that it will be supported in the future, my bet is that it may be a long while and I'd certainly not wait for it especially when Ultras can be found inexpensively and are solid upgrades even for non-Stadia uses.
Hey @Zapatilla, 3 weeks ago Grace announced the following, therefore I think you might be able to play with your Chromecast when it has the below mentioned version. Might also be that it's only working with a Chromecast Ultra anyway:
"A reminder that most existing (not-bundled) Chromecast devices will not support Stadia until they're updated over the next few weeks. You can check if your Chromecast Ultra can run Stadia by checking if it's running version 1.42.180348 or above. If your Chromecast is not on that version, attempting to play games on that Chromecast will fail until it receives the upcoming Stadia update. For now, we recommend using the Chromecast Ultra in your bundle to play."
So, will it ever work on a normal Chromecast? Or will Stadia only work on Chromecast Ultra?
Thank you!!
Guess it will never work on normal Chromecast, as Ultra streams directly from Web, Chromecast normal uses a streaming device - as far as I know.
Ok! Thanks for info!!
Guess I was wrong:

But anyway: Google said, it will only work (for now) with Chromecast Ultra. Maybe because of HDR and 4K.
But this you could ask Stadia Support directly.
