Unable to add Stadia account to Chromecast Ultra due to "webpage not available" error

Jump to Best Response

Hi, I'm trying to use Stadia on a new Chromecast Ultra, and this is the result - the ability to pair the Chromecast to the account is totally broken.

The Google login screen when I hit Add account to Chromecast on my OnePlus 9 Pro flashes briefly, then gets replaced with "webpage not available".

Any ideas?

Are you using a VPN?  If so, turn it off.  Also, disable any kind of antivirus, web filtering, etc. types of applications you might have running.  If you're using something like a Pi-Hole disable that too.  Did you already try rebooting your phone?  Clearing cache (or even Cookies) from Chrome?  If none of this gets you anywhere I'm not sure what might be the issue and you'll probably have to get in touch with support.

Hope this is relevant, same thing happened to me. It turned out I had 2 email addresses and Google auto corrected/changed my sign in to wrong registered address.  Go to top of that page and tap on far right( 3dashes or your av atar) and choose correct email.

I think the bug is due to this screen that flashes briefly before this crash - the login screen is the "Verify it's you" kind, and Stadia probably doesn't handle it correctly?

I'm not using a VPN, filtering, or AV. This seems to be a bug in the Stadia app itself not being able to deal with a certain Google login prompt.

I've reported it directly to Stadia PR (as I'm a member of the media), hopefully they'll get engineering to take a look.

I don't understand this answer or why it's selected as the Best Response. What 2 email addresses, where? Where are you supposed to change the email to the right one? In my case, there was no such confusion or issue - the login page was crashing for correct right account due to the extra verification prompt.
