Stadia shows network issues and doesn't show 4k on my 4k TV.
Now the fun part. I'm 99% sure it's not an issue on my end. The facts:
50mbit stable connection
Ping around 14
Ccu via wifi (router very close) but same issue when using ccu with Lan
I got my network under control... There's no other stuff stealing bandwidth etc
Pro Abo active
Are there any settings that might help? I mean if it's not working why pay money for 4k...
PS. An option to show the used resolution on ccu would be useful to check if the ccu is just not showing the 4k thingy in green
Borderlands 3 looks like that on my router... That doesn't look like a bandwidth issue.
Try resetting your Chromecast Ultra and connect with lan-cable for the setup (read it somewhere in this forum and this worked for my brother). In order to get 4k out of it, you'll need to use the supplied powercable and (I might be wrong on this) your TV needs to support HDCP 2.2.
Hey @Taktiker,
totally understand your frustration: If you pay for 4K of course you want to use it too, I can understand this.
I would recommend here to check first if your TV is actually able to play 4K (not all TVs do).
If this is the case, try these troubleshooting steps first to try to solve the issue.
If this still doesn't help and you checked your internet connection already as you said, maybe it's best if you contact the Stadia support team to figure out more TS steps or to check for a possible bug.
Hope this helps!
Okay... TV is 4k of cause
the ccu is in a uhd hdmi slot too
I did all the troubleshooting steps beforehand... There basically left to put it on fhd which is nonsense xd
you're not alone. I've the very same problem. I'm a returning customer and pro subscriber since today.
I have 100MBit DSL Internet connection and everything works perfectly. Even the stadia connection speed test [1] agrees: " we expect that you’ll have a high-performance gaming experience on Stadia"
As I can see from your screenshot, you're playing from Germany, too. Maybe it's a location based or country issue at the moment. Sometimes the connection goes green and 4k is "On". 2 minutes or so, it switches to yellow or red but the 4k resolution remains. At least what my eyes tell me ![]()
But right after the start it does not switch to 4k, because it says, 4k is not supported by the network.
Last but not least, I'm a IT professional and I know what I'm doing. This is definitely not a problem in my household.

My connection stays hervorragend ![]()
4k just stays grayed out or is only very rarely green. It's this way since I got stadia... Like 3 month or so. I even pay my isp to have a public ip and get rid of the stupid private nat type.
Like 3 month? This is not good.
Hmmm, I hope that the CCU and Stadia use ipv6 and the nat is not a problem.
@Chufuare there any known issues, e.g. server or CDN problems, for Germany?
Need an option in Chromecast that shows the real resolution its running with all the time... I feel like the green 4k is not very reliable
Good question, but I guess the Stadia team is a good point of contact when it comes to known issues.
As I am living in UK at the moment I can't say anything about specific problems with German providers, server problems or stuff like that. Here in UK it's running smoothly^^
I was talking to support earlyer today and the basicly talked me through all the common things to try... Downloading while playing, router reset, stadia reset, tv gaming mode, TV 50i mode, bla bla...I did all that. All they say if u say u did it all is can I do anything else for you? Yes u can fix it... Obviously ^^
I am having the same issue. Started 4 days or so ago. Connection stays Fair and never hits excellent. Its says connection can't support 4k even though I have been playing for a year with no issues. Have you come.up with a solution yet ?
Here are some pictures... Kinda strange to tell me connection is to slow for 4k but at the same time only using 50% of the bandwith. Also 4k should use up to 34mbit why would it say its not enough on a 50mbit.
Ok well this seems I am not alone. My ISP checks out. Your screen shots are exactly what I'm seeing except most of the time my connection shoes fair and sometimes it will show excellent.
@Taktiker what happens when you wait a bit? Pause the game or similar. Does it change to 4k "On" ?
Right now nothing changes.
A while ago I had it lighting green every now and than. It didn't say that's its not possible at that time BTW if I remember correctly
Same here. Excellent conection but no tick
I've never had any problems until now
While playing around with the sound options in cyberpunk I accidentally hit a wrong key on my TV remote and switched from ccu to another input. Before that I had the same situation with 4k not supported by network and Grey 4k thingy as discussed. But after the input switch it was actually green!
I guess we can hope it's just not showing correctly. If it's Grey try switching inputs. Switching again broke it again BTW... But might help as a workaround.
Now I'm left with the question why it's using the same amount of bandwith in 4k and 1080p....something smells fishy my friends
yep
I think they have changed something for the worse
pd: i see really bad resolution on cyberpunk (4k - ccu) dont know if is related
I've tried today again, but it's like russian roulette: Maybe I get a 4k resolution, maybe not. I'm always not 100% sure, if Stadia present me the game in 1080p or 2160p. Because of this, and another problem with the 5.1 surround sound, brought me to the dicision to cancel my Pro subscription. Furthermore I've chatted with the Customer Care Support for a refund and they granted it.
Today no chance of 4k here, input switching didn't help this time
Hey Guys,
just restart Stadia, now there is the button "options" next to the controller button. Then scroll down and you'll find it.
As you guys being from Germany, too, I can confirm occasional problems with 4K or "hervorragend" here. I got around 200/42 with SVDSL Telekom (still better than VF Cable anyway).
I tryed cyberpunk on chrome on my pc today and wow IT LOOKS LIKE CRAP.... That's so sad for stadia...
Chrome need to have VP9 enabled otherwise it looks way to blurry.
But did you try using the Google DNS services?
I am using a FritzBox myself and using the Google DNS services.
Vp9 is enabled checked with the plus extension and actually I tryed Google DNS as well as cloud flare... But obviously DNS servers should not make a difference
about the Google DNS Services: What should be the benefit of using the Google DNS services?
100% agree borderlands is the biggest fail ever and all the other things you said is 1000% true and a real gamer would never accept this fake 4k GFN is the better choice but both can't keep up with ps5 or xbox series x so.....
3080TI is coming in February and stadia is dead for me the most Player are poor and have money for good hardware and thats the reason why they celebrate this bull**bleep**
Stadia is garbage. I have this same problem. I have a one gigabit down connection. My CCU is hardwired into router on a 4k tv. I've cancelled my Stadia service and deleted all traces of it. Google needs to shine a light on this issue as it is a problem. I pay for a service and I expect it to work. Simple. I hit all the boxes for 4k to work and nothing. Stadia customer service doesn't have a clue.
