Hi @RphelIV

the app should be available in early 2021.

"First half 2021" does not mean early 2021. It could be until mid-year.

Still unbelievable that Stadia is not supported from the start. There is no better way to tell your target audience that you don't give a sh*t about Stadia.

Roses are red, Gaming is fun. You are carrying too much, to be able to run!

People have reported that it "works" if you sideload the stadia app. Amazing it doesn't have support out of the box :face_with_rolling_eyes:

I am playing with this configuration with my Chromecast with Google tv, and it works well I do not understand why stadia does not do it officially

The new Chromecast doesn't even have Ethernet if I understand it correctly. Would be nice to have the most stable internet connection available when gaming. Wonder if the people who made the new Chromecast were ever aware about the existence of Stadia. Probably they found out a week before launch.

That's a good point actually, according to the tec specs, the new chromecast only has "Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4 GHz/5 GHz)" and "Bluetooth®" available regarding the connectivity (see here).

I mean I don't know if there is any way to combine Ethernet with this, but it doesn't sound like this.

I think though the reason Stadia is not immediately available on the new chromecast is probably because there was either no time to do so or because of technical issues that needs to be fixed before allowing it. Might also be that Google wants to bring a specific new feature with the new chromecast, but it isn't ready yet. So before falling into assuming, I would just say let's see and hope that "first half of 2021" is correct for having Stadia on it. :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:

FYI there will be a power adapter sold for the new Chromecast that has Ethernet available, similar to what the CCU currently uses. I'm guessing the new Chromecast has better Wi-Fi so Ethernet is less necessary than on older hardware like the CCU.

Yes it has, but they sell it as an accessory, I have opted for a hub it works well the same

You can add a hub usb3 to your Chromecast. Some of them add an ethernet port. It works just plug and play with your Cfgtv.

Can get a dongle for it, I had to do the same for my Nexus player a couple of years back. I've sideloaded stadia to the Chromecast with Google TV & works a treat! My internet is about 50mb.

My Chromecast w/ Google TV (btw, can we all agree this name is unnecessarily long & pretty much a marketing fail?) is fast AF on my mesh network. It's throughput is faster than my Internet connection. Obviously, Ethernet is ideal, but these days, WiFi is good enough for all my gaming.

I also freaking love the Chromecast w/ Google TV versus my Roku - and before I switched, I considered my Roku to be the best all around experience for ease of use & interoperability.

I wasn't even considering switching until I read about Raised by Wolves and I couldn't watch it on my Roku (at the time, HBOMax didn't have an app on Roku.)

The Google TV interface is a bit more busy & my kids & wife complain that it isn't as easy to use as Roku - w/o native Stadia support, it's going to be a harder sell to my kids. Right now, they want the Roku back. If they could play all the games I have in Stadia, I could sell the Chromecast w/ Android Nest TV by Google as a permanent replacement for the Roku.

We are in April 2021... It's time to have an announcement about Google Stadia on Chromecast with Google TV.

I can install GeForce Now on it, but not Google Stadia. How many time we have to wait for an update?

I appreciate an official answer... I just know that it was announced for the first half of 2021.

Thanks
