When I play any games I noticed that there are glitches around every minute or so. The audio and the visual stutter for a fraction of a second and then continue on. I'm able to play but if I'm running in the game it stops running until I move the joystick again. I tried playing at a friend's house and the same thing happened. We're both on Google fiber and use their built in wifi. In both houses I have it plugged in with ethernet. I'm at a loss right now
I just want smooth gaming.
@SPAWT Do you mean that you're using just the black "Network Box" as your WiFi router or that you have a Google WiFi system plugged into the Fiber Jack? I know Google Fiber is offering/supporting both setups so just want to make sure we're on the same page.
I know everyone (myself included) typically recommends using an Ethernet cable to connect the Chromecast, but could you try disconnecting that and instead connecting the CCU to your WiFi network to see if the behavior continues?
I'm plugged directly in the back of the black Google fiber network box, not the Google Wi-Fi. I have tried it on Wi-Fi with both 2.4ghz and 5ghz Now that I think about it, it happened on my computer too when on wifi. I never have the computer connected to Ethernet. Both wifi and Ethernet show a green connection symbol in stadia.
@SPAWT Hmm. It's interesting that you see the exact same behavior when playing on your PC over WiFi. Was that with the controller connected wirelessly or with a USB cable?
Nah. Mouse and keys
@SPAWT Hmm, I'm really struggling to come up with anything else to try. It might be worth engaging with Google Fiber support to see if they could look into any issues from their end. It seems like it's got to be something with the ISP rather than your local network since you get the same issues on WiFi and Ethernet, as well as at your friend's house with the same provider and equipment.
I'm also on Google Fiber and don't have any stuttering issues, though I suspect we're not in the same city. I also am not using their Network Box anymore.
It's possible that switching to their "bring your own router" setup and using something like Google WiFi instead could help. Google WiFi is able to automatically prioritize Stadia traffic which is kind of nice.
My best guess is to write a ticket here: https://support.google.com/stadia#topic=9634925 They will be able to pull some back end logs to try and troubleshoot what is going on. Sorry to hear about all the issues
So after some troubleshooting I've improved my situation a little bit by connecting my controller to my 2.4ghz band and having it plugged into the ethernet as well. The glitches are less frequent and the control disconnects still but it seems a little more manageable right now
