Stadia keeps disconnecting

Jump to Best Response

Hey!

I've bought a chromecast with google tv to be able to play stadia on my tv.

I can play, but I got the double error message that 1, error failed to start the game session (even though in mid of gaming and that pops up), and 2 behind that (check your connection)

With other apps (like Netflix), I have no connection issues, only with stadia.
I thought that it's hw error but I've tried the following:

  • checked the router by running a ping while gaming. When the game crashed I have not lost any package on test device, so it's not wifi error
  • I have checked the router via cable, same result: no package drop when game crashed
  • checked chromecast with google tv connection via wifi: no problem, netflix and such doesn't stop for hours on end
  • bought a cable adapter to chromecast with google tv, it's now connected to the internet via cable, still having these error messages.

So the chromecast should be fine since other apps are working well. The internet should be fine since I've tested it multiple times.
Something has to be off with my stadia account or stadia itself.

Did anyone else have the same experience?
What could I do to solve this?

When I played on my laptop I had no issues, so it might be only an app issue on chromecast with google tv?!

Thanks for the help in advance :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey @orultspanyol,

Do you happen to have more than one wifi at home? it is possible that your controller is jumping between 2.4ghz and 5ghz? it may happen if both SSID have the same name.

Check if the issue can be solved by this, I had the same exact issue as you!

hey @HatDroid , thanks for the comment.
I have one wifi but it is presumably a mesh wifi provided by vodafone with a router.

The controller is connected via BT, so this should be all right I guess.

Do you think I should try and get a different SSID for the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz network?

I would suggest doing so, at least that was the issue in my case! give it a shoot and let me know if it works for you!
