I have a 4k tv with the CCWGTV installed in the right HDMI slot with 4k enabled and HDR on. I have a gigabit connection but all I get is 4k unsupported by network. Nothing works with troubleshooting as customer support is clueless. 4k streaming works fine with all my other stuff. I've never been able to get any games to work on 4k even though I meet all the requirements easily. Nothing else is running while I play. I get the green excellent connection icon as well. Nothing I do works too get 4k gaming to work and yes I have a pro subscription. Why is stadia so garbage? I'm about ready to throw this trash away.
OK I must say I am a big idiot lol. I must apologize to everyone and to the Stadia Community. While I had everything setup as far as CCwGTV, I was left scratching my head as to why 4K wasn't working. I always got the green excellent connection stamp and Stadia's troubleshooting is very bland when it comes to this. I was using Wifi from my router to the CCwGTV. All I did was buy a Belkin USB-C networking dongle and a cheap 14' CAT 6 cable from BestBuy. I hooked the CCwGTV to the Belkin dongle and then the ethernet cable directly to the router. BAM. Now I have instant 4k, 5.1, HDR, green excellent connection, no buffering, and no hiccups. To anyone having issues it can be as simple as plugging your Chromecast directly to your net source. Now I can confidently use Stadia as I intended it to in all 4k glory haha.
Just to be sure, have you tried installing a speedtest app on your CC, and running that?
And with "All other 4k streaming", does that include other game streaming services, or more like YouTube, Netflix, etc.?
Thank you for getting back with me. Yes 4k works with all my other services like Netflix with 4k tier package and with YouTube through my Chromecast with Google TV. Everything works with no issues as I have a pretty fast connection. Only issue is stadia.
Keep in mind Stadia does need more bandwidth and a more stable connection to work. YouTube and Netflix are pretty easy to run in comparison, since they can preload some video, which Stadia can't do. It'd be useful to get information from a speedtest (preferably taken on the CCw/GV itself), since the requirements are pretty different from video to game streaming.
I've ran one on the CCWGTV and I was still in the green. I just don't understand. My bandwidth is more than enough to run the games in 4k. It just doesn't and there is no real troubleshooting for something like this. All the customer support tells me to do is reset that and turn this off. Ok? I've done all that a million times and it doesn't work. Don't advertise it if you can't honor it.
I've had stadia before and cancelled. I thought I would try it out again but same old bs. There is no real clarification on to get 4k working reliably. Guess it's time to dump this garbage and go to Nvidia.
Just to confirm, have you tried GFN, and does that work with 4k for you? I have personally used the CCw/GTV on WiFi with 4k, and it seemed to work fine for me... I'm not an expert at all on networking or computers in general, so I can't really say anything about this with confidence, but I don't think GFN will work in 4k if Stadia doesn't either.
Hi @MikeBanks84,
What can you tell @DaBaldEagul and me about how your network is setup and how your shield tv is hooked up to your network? There seems to be an issue that is being overlooked as it might not make sense but that could be causing it
I have the same setup and get 4k@60hz, HDR and 5.1 sound. Do you have pro subscription?
They say they do in the post.
Then there is only one logical explanation: that Gigabit connection is not really a Gigabit. I had for example a small problem with a data socket at my home that was not cabled correctly and only got 100mb on it although all my home including internet connection is Gigabit. I only saw the flaw when I checked the connection in my router so I had to rewire.
Stadia isn't garbage at all, you probably have something badly configured. It works for all, why wouldn't for you?
Hey there @MikeBanks84,
Just checking in with you to see how everything is going? I did notice some comments about checking your internet connection. Just wanted to see if you had seen the most recent responses and if any of them helped to spark an idea or a fix? Let us know when you can.
Thank you,
James
