Stadia App on LG Smart TV (OLED55CX9LA) black screen

Jump to Best Response

Hi,

I tried the native Stadia app on my LG TV (OLED55CX9LA, latest firmware installed) today with the following result:

  • Login worked,
  • connecting a Stadia controller worked,
  • chosing a game worked.

Right after Stadias own animated start screen of the game, my screen turns entirely black and stays black. I can hear the sound of the game after some time, but no image. I can use the Stadia menu and can leave the game via the long press Stadia button menu.

Can someone suggest a solution? I have already tried to disable HDR and 4k resolution, but the behavior stays the same.

I'm using Stadia with no issues on my CCU, but would really like to run it on the TV. The CCU is only connected to play Stadia games on the bigger screen.

Best regards

SOLUTION!

I just deletetd and reinstalled the app….

It‘s magic. Now it works.

I just restarted my TV and fixed the issue.

Here's how I performed a reboot;

  1. Switched off the TV.
  2. Removed the TV's plug from the wall.
  3. And, waited for at least 40 seconds before re-plugging in the TV.
    on the television.

Have OLED65BX and the same black screen happened to me. Just have closed app, turned to another input and now it's ok. But I think, that CCU or Google TV is for Stadia still better solution. I've noticed image tearing during fast-paced scenes in Hitman. The problem is probably the TV's processor and crappy network connectivity.

Same problem here

Lg55gx6la

The game is actually running. I can take screenshots with my controller and they show on my phone. All I see is a black screen though.

(The screenshot has full expected images, but the actual TV only shows black)

Have tried with a couple of games

Reinstalling the app is not a good solution as I have to setup everyone's account again and frankly entering my password via the TV controller sucks. Why we can't setup via our phones like the CCU I don't know.

So I have the same issue on my LG CX 55 running WebOS5. But it's game dependant. Life is strange, the crew 2, little nightmares 2, paw patrol adventures  and destroy all humans black screen whereas elder Scrolls online, AC Valhalla, destiny2, dirt 5, RDR2, RE Village work fine.

Hopefully this gives some insight into this issue. Quite annoyed at life is strange as my daughter really loves it.
