Hi folks just got a chromecast ultra in uk yesterday but was wanting to know is there an option to getting stadia instead of paying £119 and getting another chromecast ultra? Thanks in advance
Not really at this moment in time. Options currently available are:
Else wait until the Base Edition is released in 2020, although we have no news as to when that will be made available yet in 2020.
Alternatively, buy a Premium Edition, create your account and then once you're up and running on Stadia return the unopened package for a refund within the 15 day GoogleStore policy limits etc., policy is here: https://support.google.com/store/answer/2411741?hl=en-GB .
Your account will switch to what is in effect a base edition (even though it isn't available currently) and you can then run that account on your existing CCU hardware and subscribe to Pro again.

Cheers buddy thanks for reply. I checked the firmware on my ultra so it appears it wouldn't run stadia anyway. Will have to get the £119 edition then lol
@Celticdamian : No problem, but the CCU firmware can be upgraded to a compatible version. So, you could still avoid keeping a Premium Edition if you choose not to. Of course you would still need to purchase a Stadia controller if you wanted to play on the CCU, but that is still cheaper than buying the Premium Edition.
Good luck.
