Sound through USB C on the controller drops out when using Chromecast Ultra

Jump to Best Response

I've just got the Arctis 1 Wireless after seeing some recommendations but was aware of an issue raised by Nadious on the Stadia Reddit of the sound cutting for 1 second occassionaly when you are using USB C headsets connected to the controller. This was confirmed by other users on wired USB C headsets connected to the Stadia controller.

By a lucky coincidence I was playing in various ways over the last few days and when playing on CCU and the headset is connected by USB C the sound does cut occasionally but when I do the same set up using the controller wirelessly and connecting the headset through USB C playing through the Chrome browser on my Mac there is no sound drop out.

I messaged Nadious on Reddit, who ran the same test and got sound drop out when using the CCU but not when using the controller wirelessly on Chromebook.

It therefore looks like the issue is only linked to USB C audio from the Stadia Controller when playing on CCU.

If anyone else is having the same problem with USB C headsets please can you raise a fault through the Stadia App. the more people that raise the fault the better chance we have of getting it resolved.

Thanks everyone and happy gaming.

I can confirm that the issue is as you described - fine on a controller paired to a CB, but dropout city when connected to a CCU. Worse on USB-C than on 3.5mm but still present on both. For me, the weird thing is that I can make the dropouts worse by moving the contoller further away from my WiFi point. I've seen some that say the dropout goes away if you can confine your controller to the highest 5GHz band on your router, but my Nest AP doesn't give me that option.

I have the same issue and am using the Steel series Arctic 1. On Chromecast Ultra, I found that my controller disconnect in the middle of the game also without reason since the recent update which increase the number of time my audio drop out. One more thing I found is when switch to a party chat, the audi drop completely and reconnect. I also found that the drop out happen more often as the party chat get bigger.

On Chrome, O get the same issue with the controller and some drop out if I plug the usb c dongle on the controller. If I plug the doodle on the PC, I don't get as much drop out.

I will send a feedback also to see if they can fix it.
