Sound drop outs when using USB C headset attached to the controller and on CCU

Jump to Best Response

HI,

Just a bit of feedback. I've just got the Arctis 1 Wireless after seeing some recommendations but was aware of an issue raised by Nadious on the Stadia Reddit of the sound cutting for 1 second occassionaly when you are using USB C headsets connected to the controller. This was confirmed by other users on wired USB C headsets connected to the Stadia controller.

By a lucky coincidence I was playing in various ways over the last few days and when playing on CCU and the headset is connected by USB C the sound does cut occasionally but when you do the same set up using the controller wirelessly and connecting the headset through USB C and play on Chrome on my Mac there is no sound drop out.

I messaged Nadious on Reddit, who ran the same test and got sound drop out when using the CCU but not when using the controller wirelessly on Chromebook.

It therefore looks like the issue is only linked to USB C audio from the Stadia Controller when playing on CCU.

Please can you feedback.

Thanks a lot and thanks for the 2 great games last night. They are a great addition Pro. And thanks for the sales as well although my wallet is a lot lighter now. :slightly_smiling_face:

Take Care and keep up the good work.

Hello @BigBaldyNose,

Can you send this feedback through the Stadia app? That way it can be delivered to the Google team. The Founders Hub here is not a support forum (non-Founders may be experiencing this same issue, and would benefit from seeing things like this). So, you might also post this in one of the other forums, too.

Why not Zoidberg?

I'm glad I'm not going crazy here!  I also have an Arctis wireless headset and was pleased a while back to find out that it was working wirelessly when I plug the wireless transmitter into the controller's USB-C port.

However, intermittently the sound drops completely when playing over the CCU.  Glad it works but this issue needs fixing

I don't think this is limited to a particular USB-C headset, as I often experience what you're describing if I use my Pixel wired headset connected to the Stadia controller when playing on CCU. In fact it occasionally affects the game stream to where it also visually pixelates, stutters, and delays my controller input too. Since they added USB-C headset compatibility to the controllers, I've noticed the quality has improved but it still exhibits this behavior often enough to be noticed. I typically send feedback from the app when I can and these kinds of things happen, also trying to exit the game from the Stadia menu to try to encourage the onscreen playback survey when there's an issue.

I never considered connecting my usb headphones to the controller, i'll have to keep that in mind next time my old school headphones aren't conveniently at hand.
