New here, question about Chromecast

Hey folks, I hope everyone is doing well today. I'm new to the Stadia and researching it a bit before I take the plunge (black friday sales and all that) but I had a question first. Apologies if this has already been addressed, but I didn't see it in the FAQ or anything. Since Stadia uses Chromecast, does that mean either now, or in the near future when more features and services are up and running, we won't technically NEED a Chromecast device? My PS4 uses Chromecast, I can easily cast YouTube from my Android phone to my PS4 and play videos on my tv. Perhaps any Chromecast compatible device-and-screen connection will work? Just curious since that would mean the user only really needs to buy the controller. Which would be awesome. Not to say that the Stadia isn't ALREADY awesome, lol. Just thought I'd ask! Thanks in advance!

@doctorowl For now, at least, Stadia requires a Chromecast Ultra device and does not support anything with embedded Chromecast functionality. This might change in the future but there aren't really any guarantees.

If you want to play on your TV, I'd recommend picking up a Chromecast Ultra - and, for now, the only way to get the Stadia Pro subscription needed for immediate access is as a part of the controller + Chromecast bundle anyway.

We don't know how far they'll take the casting functionality beyond the Chrome Cast Ultra.  They may eventually expand it to tested devices but for now they are limiting I imagine to limit variables as they do wide audience testing.

You can however play on your phone or PC as well with traditional controllers and/or KB+M.
