@Alex_42 :
From a browser, can you check the performance that you are getting for the following URL: https://projectstream.google.com/speedtest
Your chromecast ultra, is it connected to your WiFi or is it connected via an Ethernet cable instead?
If connected to WiFi, is it connected to a 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz WiFi frequency? Also, if you are connecting via WiFi, is the Chromecast Ultra in close proximity to the WiFi Access Point, e.g. in the same room, or if not, how far away?
Does your ISP have any traffic throttling measures in place or limitations on your internet tariff etc.?
Do you get the same sort of issue with connection drops if you run Stadia from a PC via a Chrome browser?
Just trying to see if there is any way we can identify some obvious issues or not.
Hi,
the speed test tells me my connection is great (over 350 mbps).
- Chromecast is connected via WiFi - router is very close; just a few inch. Modem/Router is directly behind my TV
- Chromecast is conencted via 5Ghz
- ISP does not have any traffic throttling measures in place or any other limitation
- I just played a bit via Chrome browser from my PC and it was okay. At least I didn't have a connection loss; this only happens via Chromecast. PC is connected to the same WiFi but with only 2.4 Ghz as it is in another floor ...
Again this just started to happen; there are no changes to my home network or internet provider. And it only happens on Chromecast ... First few month from November till now where great
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I have zero issues playing over WiFi on my Chromecast ultra on lg tv. Sounds like you all have internet issues?
Started with issues today with thumper.
Played at work before with no issues sound an graphic worked ( today not so good)
but also now on chromecast (exactly the same issue)
And yes both nets are high performance acvording too google
I have exact same issues. It’s just started few days ago. First ten minutes connection is Excellent/4k. After suddenly decreases to Game Might Stop, then back to Excellent again. Continuously this cycle. FE CCU (fully updated) is wired with Ethernet 300+mb / M-Lab 95-125+ mb (Italy) Rebooted/unplugged modem and ccu nothing changed.
I am having this issue too. Did you resolve it?
Okay, your firmware is correct as 1.42.183786 is the latest.
That suggests its not an update or firmware issue. Now, is the issue exclusive to Stsdia? Can you cast a streaming service to the CCU? Does the issue replicate across that?
Having the same issue too. Chromecast connected to ethernet, first few minutes in a game are excellent, then it drops and continues to ping back and forth. I have 500 up and down. What is going on?!?
Did you try hard resetting the Chromecast Ultra and setting it up as a new device?

Please try the hardware reset mode (just holding the button for a while until the light turns white).
I had this issue before but it was ISP related... My internet provider had the right speeds but the latency wasn't consistent.
They fixed it after showing them the issue I had with the pings when doing speedtests over and over again.
But I read you have checked this already.
Though it worked only after hard resetting the Chromecast Ultra.
Maybe its heat related, CCU do get rather hot while in use. Maybe over time, something got damaged.
I did a full reset last night. Everything was working great. This morning I'm right back to constantly getting connection warnings.
This is also the first time the Stadia speed test is under reporting my speeds.
I'm so freaking sick of trying to troubleshoot this service. Nothing on my end shows any problems. What the hell am I supposed to do about this?!?
I'm having the same issues, what I did about it was stopped paying for pro, stopped buying games on stadia and got a Xbox one X, it has a dedicated storage device so I can play offline, and haven't had a single issue with my connection. Until they add storage, stadia is useless.
The only thing right now I can image to do is try to find out if your ISP has issues.
I did a speedtest with a cable for over 2 days every hour and it was inconsistent and had some latency issues.
Contacted the ISP and after doing some more test the ISP asked they start working on the network within my village.
After a few months they fixed it.
My internet became unstable mostly at the same time very day.
18.00 until 23.30 - neighbors also use the most internet at that time, comming from work and watching Netflix.
Did you try checking it at different times a day if you are able to?
My internet failed when I wanted to play... after work.
My connection does not have issues. I've been periodically testing for months trying to figure this out. I literally stare at my ping for minutes at a time for several hours a day thanks to Rocket League on PC, at high traffic times no less. My ping, my connection, my speeds. Perfect, rock solid.
This is wholly a problem with the Stadia service, that much is clear. What I want to know is when the hell is Google going to do something to actually help all of us with this problem.
Check the forums. They are littered with similar complaints and zero answers. That is absolutely unacceptable for a subscription service.
I cannot check your situation. ![]()
When I play Stadia at serval locations it and doesn't run well it mostly because of the home network or the ISP.
Thing is that most places I have been and they wanted Stadia to run well I checked things like the modem and router that is used. If that has the same components I know work it has been the ISP for few times now.
For example at 2 family members of mine we switched to FritzBox home netwerk gear. At a friend we switched ISP as he already had a decent home network running.
When fixed Stadia will runs, but I must admit that running a Cloud gaming platform is much more demanding than running a local gaming PC or console that only needs some internet to connect to the only services. So I know it can be a hassle to get things running. But as the time comes by and the internet speeds are getting better and more stable it should iron out things like this.
Started having the same issues this week. Chromecast Ultra wired connection shows connected at the router, all other wired and wireless kit is working as normal, speedtests are normal but the Chromecast and Stadia are next to useless. I've reset the Chromecast, restarted the router etc etc but no luck so looks like I'll be another person ditching Stadia soon.
You are not helping. You continue to blame our ISPs when you have no clue what's wrong. Please stop. Google needs to respond to these problems, not you.
Same issues here, started this week. Chromecast Ultra connected via ethernet. I have 1gb connection and even on WiFi I have constantly +350mbps. Have had stadia pro ever since January and up until this week or maybe last week I’ve had no issues. Now I start a game and it show excellent connection, but after a few minutes it says unstable connection and exits the game.
anyone find a solution to this? I initially had this problem with my first Chromecast Ultra when I started using Stadia in Dec 20. I contacted Cust Servs and they sent a replacement Chromecast but now in the last couple of weeks the same issue has started again. I find the Chromecast gets very hot but I had only played for 45mins today and lost connection. I complete the reset as others mentioned but sometimes I have to do it 2-3 times before it connects again. If I don't do this and instead leave the TV off for a few hours the Chromecast auto connects. As others said, I have no internet issues with any other device so clearly it's a Chromecast issue. This is so frustrating when you're in a middle of a game.
Hi @Geewalt1.
So it runs fine for about 45 minutes?
If it runs hot you could try a not supported cooling method, but then again if that is the cause of your problem.
Is your Chromecast Ultra connected with WiFi 5 GHz or are you using a ethernet cable?
With the latest news it should be possible to use the new Chromecast with Google TV.
Same issue for me. Chromecast ultra becomes unplayable while it's excellent connection over my Pixel phone on the same wifi network. Seems the Chromecast ultra device is the issue to me....
