Live Streaming from Chromecast Ultra

Jump to Best Response

Is this ever going to be a thing?  I don't play very often on my computer.  Hell I'd even be happy to just save my game play to YouTube from the CCU, not live.  It would beat saving gameplay in chunks of 30 seconds.

It's currently possible, just not ideal. Load up your game on CCU, visit the Stadia website on a browser and you can activate the stream in the Stadia menu from there. If you set the stream to private then you can use it exactly as a gameplay recorder.

That's a nice work around.  I'll check it out.

I'd love to have this as a feature as well tbh.

I'm pretty sure it's the kind of feature that would be easier to integrate in the android TV app rather than the Chromecast. So I would expect it to come over when or after the official app for Android TV comes out, with parties and voice being available also on the app.

Thank you so much for the heads up on this.  I tried it last night and it did work (I cheated and used "desktop site" from my phone).  I honestly didn't think it was going to work at first because the "live" view (via YouTube on a separate device, my phone) never seemed to want to work, it just kept spinning and spinning, so I gave up and just kept on playing.  I checked YouTube videos (live videos, it is different view than uploaded) later on and lo and behold the video was there.  I was shocked.  So thanks again.

You mentioned Google TV.  For anyone considering getting one just be cautious if you don't live alone.  The device works off a version of Android (just like the older Android TV) and has (IMO) a nice UI.  The HUGE problem I have is this Android device only supports ONE USER.  Even my Pixel phone can support multiple users but Google TV can't.  I know a lot of people don't care about this but I do not want "Hello Kitty Adventure Island" playthrough videos on my YouTube history because it's tied to my account.  I also don't want everyone to have access to my video history ("why do you keep watching 'Whip My Hair' and 'Too Many cooks'? what is wrong with you?").  You basically have no privacy to anyone that picks up the controller.  You can't lock it down either.  Who wants their five year old accidently watching game of thrones all because they picked up the remote and wanted to watch dragons?  I suggest not getting Google TV unless you live alone or they fix it to support more than one user.

I created a user account then a channel for streaming and content sharing.  I already had a stadia account and just recently linked the channel on youtube for streaming.  I followed the steps above. 1- Connect your CCU and get the games up and running. 2- Go on the stadia.com website and activate the streaming option.  3- Go on youtube, com account channel and check to see if your live stream is active. I did not see anything activated just saw a notification that activating stream will take 24 hrs of review for you account to be accepted for streaming and that was a MONTH ago.  Anyone care to explain what might be wrong with youtube streaming option for STADIA via ChromeCast Ultra devices?  I can not even live stream via computer.  Any information is greatly appreciated.

P.S. I did see that in order to live stream you needed to get like 1000 followers is that the exception for streaming and if you do not have 1000 followers then you are out of luck?

You do not need followers to stream from Stadia.  You need followers to go live.
