I have found a solution.
I was using an old iPhone 6s. This morning I updated my iPad to 13.2.3 and it works.
It went through the accessing account stage and I have now happily linked my account to one of my CCU. Happy days.
Are you able to see the linking code or are you not getting to that point yet?
Do these steps help?
Yep, I'm tracking now. I'm still waiting on my hardware to be delivered so wasn't sure of the exact process but wanted to make sure that you'd seen any relevant troubleshooting steps. Unfortunately I haven't come across anything which describes what you're seeing, but I'll keep an eye out and report back if I do!
I think I had something similar. Are you using the Ultra that came with your Stadia or an existing one you have? I was going mad at the linking device and it just hung for ages. Turns out the version of firmware that runs on packaged Ultra is higher and supports Stadia. Others don't have the update yet...
"You can check if your Chromecast Ultra can run Stadia by checking if it's running version 1.42.180348 or above."
Something that's worth a try that has been mentioned in another thread.
Ensure you're using the CCU that came with it. I'm using my existing one and no luck.
Am gonna try it when i finish work, but wanted to let ya all know
Same problem here. I checked the CCU version and reconfigured everything three times but every time I get stuck when connecting the stadia account to CCU. -.-
The stadia app on my CCU also tells me to add my account using my phone. However when I open the Stadia App on my iPhone I can start games on the CCU.
Oh and just for the record: I paired the controller with the CCU before I started the game.

My chromecast shipped with 1.42.180348, and I've got the latest iOS version. I'm stuck on the spinning wheel like everyone else. But I can still play if I boot a game up from the app rather than the controller.
Hello. I’m experiencing the exact same problem as you. I’ve tried everything I can think off for the past 4hrs! Have you managed to find a solution?
You're further than me. I don't even get the chromecast to show up in the stadia app for me to select.
I haven’t found a solution yet I will try the in app reboot and report back thanks.
I have even factory reset my CCU and controller and still no avail.
Greetings,
I am having a similar issue, I get the controller linked to the CCU, and the message about adding the CCU to my account. When I get to the page to add my account the Stadia app says that it cannot find the CCU... I go into the Home app and it cannot contact the CCU either at that point.
Please note that to get this point I had to have connectivity to both the controller and the CCU from my phone. I am guessing that there is a bug in the CCU firmware.
You need to turn on the "Preview Program" option ON to FORCE a Chromecast Ultra Update within the device settings in the Google Home App. Then select REBOOT within the Google home app. Then you will get the latest Chromecast firmware that supports stadia, and get around this bull**bleep** that no one told you that needed to be done in order to get a pre-existing ultra ready for stadia. ![]()
