I've heard people side loading Stadia on to the new Chromecast, but before I buy one I want to know if shelling out for one and the power plug with an ethernet port is worth it or is it going to be a hassle and make Stadia run worse with it not being supported? It works really well at the moment on my CCU.
Hi @Bowrunner
keep in mind that every "non official" workaround can break your Stadia expierence sooner or later. If you rely on the Stadia functionality, I would use a CCU.
For me the gameplay is okay through sideloaded Stadia, my problems come from the UI it often crashes or doesn't load, but the gameplay itself is flawless, also note that I am unable to connect a 2nd controller to the CCwGTV. I load the game I wanna play on phone, open it on CCwGTV, the first game that I'll see is the one I just loaded on phone, and as for needing a mouse for "get started" on Stadia setup, enabling talk back mode allows you to use your Chromecast remote!
Hope this helped!
What in the heck is sideloading and tell me how I can do it, I’ll wash your car for a month
Sideloading is downloading the APK for the Stadia app, and installing it 'unofficially' onto your device. I'll link some instructions for you, but be aware it's probably easier to download the app 'Downloader' and download the APK through the app browser.
