Hey Google, don't be evil and enable the Utra Chromecast built-in on Stadia

I got an Nvidia Shield that has Chromecast Ultra built-in. Now that all the CCU are compatible with Stadia it would be nice if the compatibility gets extended to CCU built-in.

Please Google, don't play an Apple movie forcing us to buy new hardware when we don't really need it

@Felix : What is holding you back?   Can't you install the latest ultra build and use a buddy pass?

Kudos appreciated if deserved.

I don't have a Chromecast Ultra. I have Nvidia Shield 2017 which has Chromecast Ultra built-in. Google enabled Stadia to work with any Chromecast Ultra now (not only with the ones bought with Stadia), but not with "Chromecast Ultra built-in". So what's holding me back is that I don't want to buy another CCU when I already got one inside my Shield TV. I know Google is on their right to not enable Stadia on Chromecast Ultra built-in, but it's just a bit too evil to force us to buy an standalone CCU when we already have one really... So I hope that for once they become a cool company again :slightly_smiling_face:

@Felix : Ahh, so even if you upgrade you "built-in" CCU to a suitable version of code you still can't play Stadia on it.

Yeah, that's tough, but maybe there are some other reasons besides just annoying folks that Google chose this route.

Well, at the end of the day, either they will or they won't, I'm sure that they have their reasons as to why they aren't permitting it yet, and for your sake I hope that they change their decision in due course.

Kudos appreciated if deserved.

My Nvidia Shield TV has Chromecast (Ultra) built-in with firmware version 1.42.179832 which is newer than the standalone Chromecast Ultra (1.42.172094).

It seems to me that Google just don't want to enable it on Chromecast built-in devices with Ultra capability. They probably want us to buy another CCU, which is something I wouldn't do.

@Tito : It could also be that they just want to focus their attention on just the early adopters/founders and the premier edition user base until such time that the Base edition rolls out in 2020.

So, yes for the current experience on TV they do want users to invest in CCU, but once that base edition is released I would imagine that the focus will shift to those users looking for Chrome and integrated CCU users too.

I think its just a case of being patient if you don’t want to invest in more hardware at the current time.

Kudos appreciated if deserved.

Yes it could be that, which is a shame as it stops a lot of people from tyring Stadia. Which is somehting that it's higlhy needed to counter attack a lot of criticisms and scepticism from people who didn't even try it.

@Mad_Dog_Bravo @Felix I am pretty sure Dog is right. I don't think they care if you buy a Chromecast or not at this point. They just didn't work on those alternatives possibility's.

They have a lot of work at the moment and of course they are prioritising Google hardware.

I collect Kudos for living.

Tito and or Felix - have either of you tried to reach out via social media, like Twitter?  Tagging Google Stadia, Nvidia, etc.   I'd be peeved if my built-in ultra was left out. I'm curious too for an actual answer, not conjuncture.

Disregard the suggestion.  Recent posts failed to get anywhere with regards to Stadia on Shield or Android TV.
