Game crashes when I connect a controller

Jump to Best Response

I’m playing on a Sony Bravia 4K (2015) with a Bluetooth-compatible Xbox One controller. Whenever I try to load up a game with the controller connected, I am instantly redirected to the Stadia home screen. When I start a game with the controller disconnected, I receive the usual “connect controller” pop up, but I can see the game running in the background. Once the controller is reconnected, however, I’m redirected to the home screen again. Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

Hi @YeetBeet0

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Stadia is not officially supported on Sony Android TVs, which is why you're having those bugs. Keep your eye on this community announcement page for updates from This Week on Stadia.  If Sony android tvs are added to the compatibility list, you'll find it there.

Hope this helps!

I have this problem on what is likely the same model TV. But the thing is it didn't start until I upgraded the TV to android 8.0. In other words this other guy answering is a chump. I wouldn't expect this issue to get addressed especially on these old TVs.  One possible solution is you could factory reset the TV so it runs the older operating system. Only trouble is you might run into compatibility issues with other software. For instance the VPN app I was using was crashing before I updated.
