Fatal Error

Jump to Best Response

I just moved to an apartment and got to setting up my stadia, but when I launch a game it keeps saying fatal error! My apartment has a private network with a guest mode that I don't think I can switch off...I'm not sure if that might be the problem? Any insight guys? Loop holes (besides using my laptop hotspot to play:/ ...had to do that in college)?

Hi @EliteBuznz247, thanks for posting about this. I have a sneaking suspicion that the issue is with your apartment complex's local network. I recommend consulting with your complex's management to see if there is an IT person with whom you can collaborate. I apologize that I can't offer more specific advice, but we have also had reports that Stadia is often blocked on similar network setups in hotels and such.

@EliteBuznz247 I'm actually not familiar with the errors can you please provide a screenshot of the error? I'm definitely interested to learn more. You can also try the troubleshooting steps from the article below, and see if there's anything that applies to your situation

I tried factory resetting my controllers as well as factory resetting my chromecast ultra multiple times. I'm using the same chromecast that came with my stadia founder's addition.

@EliteBuznz247 do you know which firmware version your Chromecast Ultra is running? Chromecast Ultra updates are done automatically so usually you don't need to do anything, but just want to make sure you're running the latest firmware version.

Also, is this happening to all games?

Yes this is happening for all my games. How do I know as to whether or not I have the latest firmware?

Hi @GentlemanG,

First off, just want to say that I'm sorry you are having this issue. I know its frustrating when things aren't working out the way that you had hoped. I did want to highlight the Best Response from @ChrisFromGoogle. Stadia often has issues on local networks like apartment complexes and hotels due to the network permissions set by the owners.

Now since this is an older topic, I am going to lock it. If your issue is different enough from this current subject, I'd recommend creating a new post as we'd love to continue helping you out if you need it.

Look forward to seeing you more in the community.

Thank you,

James
