Am I not supposed to connect Chromecast Ultra to the Internet via ethernet cable? Every time I put an ethernet cable in to my Chromecast Ultra and connect it to my 5port gigabit switch, the Chromecast just stops working and my Stadia connection stops.
Is Stadia a WiFi only experience?
During my initial setup of Chromecast ultra there was no hard wired option. It only asked for WiFi.
And now when I try to just plug in my Ethernet cable it just stops connection. Doesn’t automatically switch.
Chromecast Ultra doesn't like it when it is connected to WiFi you put a ethernet cable in it (own experience).
Try a hard reset with the cable connected in the power adapter.
Set up the Chromecast and it should work.
If you then disconnect the cable and configure it for WiFi it works. Even if you reconnect the cable just unplug the power and power it on.
That is the way I manage it now.

Thank you so much. Your advice worked perfectly.

I have the same problem, but i am not so lucky.
Work fine with wi-fi
when i put in the ethernet cable the connection stops.
i have tryed hard reset with the cable in but the setup program do not fine my Chomecast ultra.
Did you try the ethernet cable with a other device, so to verify the working of the ethernet cable.
If that works a hard reset should do the trick while the network cable is connected.
Does the Chromecast Ultra output a message when doing a full reset with the Ethernet cable connected?
Same here.
