I know this has been an issue with Stadia users on and off for a while now, but has become way worse for me lately.
On my Chromecast ultra the Stadia has become unplayable because the sound for every game is distorted/crackley. Steps I've taken to troubleshoot/narrow down the problem.
1. Factory reset the CCU (both with the physical button and through the Google home app)
2. Played music and streamed videos through CCU with no audio problems at all.
3. Plugged/unplugged a headset
4. Disabled 5.1 surround sound by selecting stereo only for the CCU through the Google Home app.
5. Tried it both on Wifi and a wired connection.
I have Google fiber 1 gig internet, so it isn't an issue with internet speeds. If anyone can offer me advice for a quick fix, that would be great... But really I just want to know that Google is aware and closing in on a fix.
I've invested money into this and I'm just a bit frustrated that I can't really use it at the moment.
Hey @George88 -
Sorry to hear about that issue with your CCU. I assume that the issue doesn't occur if you are using a different device to play? Also, how old is your CCU?
Doesn't show up if I play on anything other than the CCU. I only have one CCU to test out, but its only a year or so old. It also seems to only occur when I try to play at night 6pm-11pm central time but then will work fine if I try it out in the morning. I would think it could be my internet slowing down, but I run speed tests whenever it does this and the speed coming out of my google wifi router is never less than 500-600 mpbs.
Having exactly the same issue, 60mbs Ethernet connection, sound stutters or drops out but visuals great.
Making games unplayable.
I'm return Vodafone Broadband if that is a factor?
Okay - pulled second CCU out of cupboard.
This works fine - no sound issues, though oddly the visuals seem less clear. Given clarity on other one, I wonder if there is a bug where it thinks connection is better, and thus is not managing to stream the sound?
Only difference way seeing up without Ethernet plugged in.
Original CCU is still awful, despite hard reset, soft reset, everything
