I have been encountering frame rate drops in gameplay at least once a session while playing Destiny 2. The game never recovers and I am forced to exit the game and restart. This usually starts during the loading phase into playlist activities such as Crucible, Strikes, or Gambit. It will even happen when loading into the Tower community area. When my character spawns in, the game's frame rates drop to near zero.
My internet and Wifi speeds are more than capable and according to the Network check on Stadia, my connection is Excellent almost every time.
I came across a post by another Stadia player having the same issue on the Bungie forums who does a great job explaining the issue as well (Game periodically begins dropping frames, and eventually slowing to a cr... > Help - Console Support...).
Any thoughts on what is happening or if this an issue with Stadia or Bungie servers? Thanks.
@Dano2point0 I looked at the video on the Bungie forum and it does look like the issue is server side. Did you take any video capture when the issue happen? It would be great if you can provide at least one example, then we can try to escalate it. I also play Destiny 2 but mainly play on PC due to bandwidth issue. I can try to spend more time on Stadia version and see if I can replicate the issue. Which country are you based btw? Wonder if it's a regional issue.
@MrVacca I know you've recently started playing Destiny 2 quite a bit. Have you experienced something like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ny08-CXUbTs
Thanks @Ivan. I'll get a video capture of it happening during my next session. It happened to me a couple of times last night heading into Crucible matches but I didn't record it. My connection was showing Excellent but the frame rate still dropped and forced a restart. I'll follow up with some video later. I'm in the U.S. btw.
@Dano2point0 I’d be happy to give you my destiny 2 username if you’d like me to join in any crucible matches. Just a warning, I’m not that good lol
Sure as soon as my temporary ban from Bungie expires
I was forced to restart in two Control matches last night due to the frame rate issues and got a ban. Bungie isn't playing around.
Does the forum allow posts linking to Stadia video clips? I am getting an error message while trying to link a couple from Stadia.
@Dano2point0 It usually does, but sometimes there's currently issue with part of the string detection in the link. Can you please share which error you're getting when posting the link?
In the past, I have the same issue only with destiny 2 which won't allow me to continue the sessions unless I stop it and restart again the game.
Thanks for the ping @Ivan - I have indeed been playing a ton of Destiny 2 this past month solely using the Stadia platform. I am sorry to report that I have not experienced that type of frame rate drop. I'm sorry @Dano2point0 - that looks unplayable and very frustrating. As a side note - I have been only been playing Gambit in Destiny 2 - I haven't been doing any questing, nightfalls or anything like that. I'd love to do some testing later today @Ivan with a nightfall or anything else you'd like!
I play a lot of Gambit and it happens frequently there as well, about as much as Crucible. Again usually in the load in screen and then the Drifter pre-game pep talk. It happens the least during Vanguard playlists.
Add me on Stadia - MrVacca
I'd love to hang!

Here's a clip from mid match in Crucible.
Thanks @Dano2point0 - I've escalated this issue and the team is looking into it.
