Just got my free premiere edition stadia kit via the Youtube Premium promotion. Set it up yesterday on my old CCU and got everything up and running. Super smooth performance, was extremely and pleasantly surprised how well it ran!
Decided that I wanted to run my CCU via ethernet cable to see if that would be even better even though there wasn't any discernable lag running Destiny 2. After googling around I found out that you can't just plug it up and then the CCU would automatically switch over to ethernet but rather that you have to setup the device as an ethernet device without ever tethering it to a wifi network.
I factory reset the CCU, set it up via ethernet cable and go to log into Stadia. Now, instead of a guaranteed stable connection, my Stadia constantly tells me that I have an unstable connection, when it can even get that far and log into D2. Half the time it won't even let me start the game.
I reformat the CCU again, this time using wifi, expecting to go back to the previous performance and now it's a mixture of instable, not being able to start, requesting to try again, getting into the game but having any absolutely garbage connection.
Has anyone else experienced this? Sure I could technically use the one in my box and set that up but I have no need as I have a perfectly functional CCU that was potentially broken in this whole process. I am currently streaming HBO MAX west world episode 1 in 4K so it's not the Chromecast. I have a 1gb fiber connection that runson average around 650mb down so it's not my internet.
Hi Ivan!
Thanks for the feedback. Upon messing with it some more (everything was up to date between hardware and app) I realized it was simply coincidence as my internet sees incredibly high performance fluctuation during high traffic times of day. This is an issue with ATT Uverse and not Stadia. Max performance I've ever had from my 1Gb fiber service is 650mb down but during high traffic I was seeing as low as single digits coming in from the ISP between 6pm and 9pm. It's really unacceptable but again, it's an issue with the ISP. Stadia works as expected when my internet speeds are performing as they should!
@kage012 After factory reset, have you made sure to update the app/software to the latest version? Just making sure. It might just be that there's some fluctuation in your internet network. Have you tried it during different times of day?

Hi @kage012! Welcome to the family, and I'm glad you were able to isolate the issue. Let us know if you run into more issues!
