The Chromecast Ultra has worked without issue for months but for the past few weeks, it lags so bad it makes games unplayable. It does not appear to be a general network issue as I have no problems if I hook up my chromebook to the TV.
I have tried forcing the 720p resolution and resetting my modem/router. If I reboot the Chromecast, it works just fine for about 5 minutes and then starts lagging again. I have the Nest wifi system and have even tried making it a priority device.
Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution? Thanks!
Hey @Thetaguru,
sorry to hear you have lags on your Chromecast.
To isolate the issue, can you please check if the same (lag) issue appears also when you play Stadia on a mobile phone or in the browser via stadia.google.com?
If the problem only exists on the Chromecast, you could try the following TS steps to try to fix the problem:
If this doesn't help, it might be an idea to contact the Stadia support to figure out if they have any additional TS you could try here or you can also check out with them if you can get a chromecast replacement (maybe the chromecast is faulty or defective)
Thanks. Yes, phone/chromebook work fine and I have tried the links but can't blame the network as it works on other devices. Will try support as well, was just dreading going through their checklist ![]()
Make sure tv input has gaming mode enabled (or using the low latency port) depends of tv make/model.
Might not be your issue - but I was chasing lag issues on chromecast ultra.... Then recalled I had shuffled tv ports for a new device. Moved chromecast to new port and had not enabled game mode on it.
So just something else to do a quick check for
