I really like stadia when it was working but recently my phone can’t connect to the Chromecast after I said it up I can get to the point where the controller links with the Chromecast but I can’t add my account to the Chromecast it’s been nothing but a headache
A waste of money and time consuming trying to figure out what’s wrong with the stupid thing
Hey @Mitchdog here to help.
So can you talk me though each step. Have you setup the Chromecast, using the Google home app?
Have you then linked the account in your Stadia App? (Top right icon in the App, then link account to Chromecast).
If so, what's the next error you are encountering?
I tried everything I used a different WiFi. I used differ phones and tablets for the Google home app. But I get no error messages it just won’t let me cast or hook up my account in stadia to the Chromecast. It just doesn’t appear after the set up of the chromecast
i do appreciate the reply thankyou
No problem at all @Mitchdog So with your Chromecast setup, when you go into the Stdia App on your phone, and click on your profile, is the second option down add account to Chromecast? What happens when you click on this?
And are your phone and the Chromecast on the same wifi network?
Apologies if I'm walking this back, just trying to logically troubleshoot.
After I click on that it just say there is no chrome cast available
and yes same net work
and then half the time when I factory rest the chrome cast. After set up it would try to boot up stadia automatically and get stuck at the boot up screen
Okay, what Firmware is the CCU running? (You can find this in the Google Home App)
I’m currently having the exact same problem and it’s driving me up the walls, it’s a complete shambles how there seems to be no obvious remedy to this very common problem.
I’ve tried updating the firmware version, which didn’t change a thing, then factory reset my chromecast and still didn’t make a difference. Only thing saving me from sending this waste of time back to google is the fact that i got it for free, feel really sorry for people who actually paid money for this.
I have exactly the same issue, just connected all bits to Wifi (Controller, CCU) and the stadia app will not see the CCU. It feels like a waste of Google’s money.
Are you all perhaps using the Stadia app on an iphone? It's a common iphone problem right now.
Yeah I just got stadia and I’m having the same problem. I have an iPhone so that might be the problem, it’s super annoying and it drove me crazy cause I thought I was doing something wrong.
Yep this is super frustrating as an iPhone user - Google really should acknowledge the issue in the troubleshooting guide they link to from those screens. It's especially frustrating as it seems like it blocks the setup process.
In fact, if you've got to this step, you can redeem or purchase any game in the iPhone app and play it from there. When it asks you where you want to broadcast the game it'll see the Chromecast Ultra and let you select it. You don't need to go through the 'Add account to chromecast' step at all when you do this.
I might have an idea to fix the problem. It isn’t a permanent fix but you could try running an android emulator and downloading stadia on the virtual machine. I haven’t tested it yet but it may work
@Mitchdog @dizzyup @gaberiv123
If you are using IOs, goto IOS settings 》 Stadia and make sure Local Network is on.
Then run setup again and this should fix the issue.
I thank all of you for putting in your time and helping me. I fixed it by getting a new WiFi router. I guess my other one didn’t like the chrome cast You guys are all awesome thank you again for everything
