Hey there!
Chromecast built-in devices are currently not supported by Stadia.
However, if you have a premiere edition, this comes with a Chromecast Ultra, which does support Stadia.

Alternatively, support for Android TV devices will come in the first half of this year, which isn't terribly long from now.

You won't need to download the games, but you can use the controller on Stadia from Chrome on desktop if you don't have a Chromecast ultra.

You can try Stadia for free on your phone to decide if the CCU is worth it. Stadia starts with a one month free trial, and has a nice lineup of games that are free with the subscription.
Alternatively, without entering payment methods there's also a few games for free (w/o pro), just reply back here if you want the link to those.

Thanks so much. I bought the controller off eBay, thinking I could download my fav games I play on my phone on my new tv and use this controller, was I ever wrong. Lesson learned, I research before I buy anything now...
