Adding child account to Chromecast problem

Jump to Best Response

I'm trying to add both my children's accounts (Google child accounts) and my wife's account to the chromecast so all their profiles show up when I start stadia on the TV. However, it won't let the child accounts be added through my phone since they are child accounts. It says I need to create users which Samsung no longer supports. Therefore I had to use different tablets I have. One worked (android), while the other iPad is not working. It finds the chromecast but then just spins forever and never moves on. Anyone else have this and how do I solve it? I'm trying to get the whole family ready for when they release family sharing...fingers crossed.

This is the exact issue I'm having.
It seems like you have to have an android device that your child is signed into that has the stadia app on it.

I was able to create a Stadia account for my son (family link managed) and then add the account without issue.

Try using Chrome, log in to stadia.com.  Click your profile in the top right corner, choose switch account, then "Add account" on the account selection dialog.  Log in with your child account there, and it should work.  It's been quite a while since I've gone through the process, though.

I can add the account on a computer but not to the chromecast. I added one of my sons accounts who has an android tablet, but the other one who has an iPad will not add. It just sits at this screen

Having this same issue. This seems to be a weird oversight. There is absolutely no reason we should have to use a phone or a tablet to add an account to a chromecast.

This is eerily similar to the fact that you have to manage Google routers via the phone/tablet app, it's not possible to do anything via a web browser.

I figured out that this issue only affects child accounts trying to add to chromecast with an iOS device. A regular Google account works fine. Just thought I'd add that in case Google checks these forums.

Thanks for the update.

Could you also send this information with the Feedback function within the Stadia app?
Just in case they miss this thread.

I was able to add my child (Child Google Account - FamilyLink) to Stadia on my laptop. I still can't get it on the TV.

When trying to add the child account to Chromecast via the Stadia App - I get this

I tried the whole setup https://support.google.com/stadia/answer/9575790?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&hl=en#:~:text=on%20the%.... with no success.

I'm going to bump this as it's a serious hassle...and downright rediculous
