Is any other stadia pro subscribers having issues with 4K resolution and HDR not being available. I own a LG 55in 4k UHD tv model 55UJ6300 that supports 4k resolution and HDR. Up until recently I had my account set to play in 4k, but now it dropped down 1080p and says my TV doesn't support 4k or HDR. I am really confused as to why, this is happening.
Apparently there is a issue running everything through the sound bar instead of running the chromecast through you arc HDMI port (if you have one) and then running the surround sound through the normal HDMI. So there's that work around or if you so feel inclined you can talk to the manufacturer of your surround sound system.
Since yesterday all my friends, including myself, are not getting 4k on Chromecast and is really noticeable the drop in resolution! Only shows "HDR 5.1" and haven't tried with HDR off! Don't know if is the same issue as you...
Yeah for some reason it's not giving me to option to used 4k or HDR and saying the my TV doesn't support it. When I was already using 4k just the other day. HDR I haven't gotten the chance to used since it's a new feature Google added. But I know that both are supported by my TV.
yes i have the same isue in the stadia app is says it works only whit stadia pro and i have stadia pro.
Same here with a brand new 60" 4k TV.
Options say device doesn't support 4k or HDR. Really?
Have you solved this?
Same here, I did get a restricted due to network load but I have no idea why they disabled the HDR.
Could likely be throttling because Covid has taken a toll on internet bandwith everywhere.
Here is a copy and paste:
"To reduce load on the internet, we plan to roll out a temporary feature that changes your default data usage setting from Up to 4K to Up to 1080p. Stadia Pro subscribers can change this setting back to Up to 4K at any time."
I would check the settings in your account and see if the max resolution has been changed. You should be able to pull up your account on the web and just change it back to 4K
Is HDR still disabled??????
It is still disabled and hdr option is greyed out. On stadia pro account. On 4k hdr tv with chromecast ultra.
@SinisterSanatra -hello, are you still there? Are you still having this issue? Am I the only one who's still having this issue?
I am having the same problem and my 4k option is just outright missing. Feels a little cruddy to still be paying full price for have the product.
So if you try to change it on your phone you will no longer see that option because no phone can play at 4k (that I know of at least.) You have to manually change it in the menu when playing stadia on your TV.
My tv supports 4k and I just tried what you said and the actual option is greyed out for 4k. Its definitely plugged into the correct hdmi outlet too. SO I am not really sure what the issue could be here.
Thank you though.
haave you solved this?
No there are a few 4k phones that can display 4k
Mainly Sony high end phones but there are others.
I tried this and there are massive frame rate issues.
Won't let you change it back there either.

I had this problem. Plugged into my sound bar. All I had to do was unplug the power to the sound bar and plug it back in. Fixed the problem.
Just received my premier edition and coming across the same problem. I am using a sunny sound bar but it supports 4k passthrough. Do I have to bypass my sound bar?
Try running you Chromecast through you TV and if if works reach out to you sound bar manufacture and see if there is a getting that you have to input or an issue with the soundbar.
Suddenly as of yesterday I lost HDR support as well. Had no issues at all, then suddenly no support for HDR. Talked to google, and they are replacing my chromcast and controler. Not sure if that will fix it. To me this seems more like a software issue than a hardware one.
Did that fixed it?
@jsc315 Hey please can you tell us if that new chromecast you got fixed hdr not being available issue?
If you can read this.
Hello Google Stadia. When will this be solved? I used to play in 4k and now i can't!
Hi, you still having problems? I think I have figured out what it is.
You have to use a power source for the chromcast ultra that is strong enough to support the Stadia app in 4K. On the Fire TV stick, if you don’t use a strong enough Power adapter then the experience on the TV is limited. I think it is a similar thing happening here. All I know is when I am using the TV is USB port to power the chrome cast, The options for 4K and HDR are not available.
When I power the chromecast using the adapter provided with it, then the options for 4K and HDR are available. I think it is an automatic setting on the chromecast Ultra
hey thanks @Gaz464
interesting
I do use the power supply, I don't have hdr option tho. Impossible to select it, let alone enable it.
4k is enabled but doesn't work either.
Unplugged and plugged TV, chrome cast and surround bar. All work now.
most posts I see on forums are often a few months or even years old. this is this year, and this month, if my fitbit date is correct.
I am also having this problem were 4k and HDR are not working, In my case I will have to ask some one else as my end before I know if it is anything to do with my equipment.
But since this issue is effecting others and google are looking in to it, I doubt it is something that we can brain jack.
I find it intresting though how it says 4k is not supported by the network and how how HDR is is either not supported by the device or not enabled on the device, when the device uses the network to stream 4k and HDR movies just fine on netflix and disney plus.
How do you have your “system” set up. Are you running your chrome cast through your e-arc hdmi port on your tv or are you running it through a surround sound.
