https://stadia.google.com is not recognizing my gamepad from Chrome on Linux

Jump to Best Response

Stadia is not recognizing my gamepad from a Linux Chrome browser. I'm using a SteelSeries Stratus Duo and this gamepad works fine anywhere else an Xbox 360 controller is supported. Gamepad testing sites like https://gamepad-tester.com/ show the inputs are being recognized by the browser, only Stadia is not working.

I should mention I am able to use this same controller with Stadia from Windows without issue, it's only when trying to use Stadia from Chrome on Linux that it's not recognized.

I've tried the ControlStadia extension as well but it does not recognize button presses when trying to map the gamepad buttons.

I was able to get it to work with the ControlStadia extension, for some reason my controller was giving off some phantom inputs. Turning the controller off and on allowed me to be able to map the inputs. If someone else finds this having difficulty with the Stratus Duo controller, remember to set the scale for Up and Left to -1, since this controller's DPAD is an axis, not a button.
