I'm trying to use a wired Xbox One controller to play Stadia on a MacBook through Chrome browser, but Stadia doesn't detect it. This is strange because if I visit gamepad-tester.com with Chrome everything works perfectly. (I also play Steam games just fine using this controller on Mac.)
Any idea why the test site would work using Chrome and this controller, but not Stadia?
I'm experiencing this exact issue using an official Microsoft Xbox one controller. It gets detected by Stadia and works perfectly in Chrome on a Windows computer. On mac it's detected by gamepad-tester.com when connected by Bluetooth (but not when connected by USB) and it works in Steam but doesn't get detected by Stadia. I updated the controller on a Windows computer with the Xbox Accessories app but that didn't help.

I also tried the controller in other Chrome browsers (e.g. Chrome Canary) and in incognito mode per Stadia support's suggestions, but that didn't work.
I tested it with apps like Controllers Lite and they all pick up the controller perfectly when connected by Bluetooth.
I tried using the 360Controller patch that gets put forward as a solution by 70% of online articles but that didn't work. (I know that it's only supposed to work for USB connected controllers but the 360Controller software wouldn't pick up the controller whether connected by cable or wireless).

I tried the Control Stadia Chrome Extension and with this extension, Stadia actually detects the controller. However, the extension doesn't have proper control mapping for the joysticks so it's effectively unusable.

I can't think of what else to do. Any suggestions?
@cool_zone Just curious, are you using the official Xbox One controller? 3rd party controllers might not be supported. Also, you can try to update your Chrome browser to the latest. After that, see if you're still getting the same issue.
@IvanI am using the latest version of Chrome, but the controller is made by PDP. Do you think that could be the issue?
@cool_zone That could be it. For the list of supported controllers you can take a look at the list below:

Do you have an official Xbox controller that you can try?
I don't have an official controller, but will probably purchase one to try. Thanks for your help ![]()

Exact same issue here. Newest XBox controller (works with S/X), gets picked up on game pad tester site, but not stadia. Used both MacOS and Win10 with latest Chrome, same issue on both. Issue appears to be with Stadia.
Thanks for your reply @SirRobinthBrave – I tried the ControlStadia extension, and finally Stadia does detect my controller! Some of the joystick functionality isn't perfect, but at least the games are playable until I decide to buy an official Stadia controller. I hope you manage to figure out your problem too.
mine has a very weird problem on my Mac it works fine but when I open stadia on my Mac the xbox controller is seen but the controls are all messed up
