Hello, have a problem with controller in stadia its not detected i can't use it. Controller is connected to my macbook and working fine but not in Stadia. How Can i Solve this problem?
Don't think so... It's looks like apple did some mess in the topic of drivers in Monterray OS. We need to wait for Apple or MS or Sony to make a drivers working again.
Hi everyone,
It looks like this thread hasn't been updated in a while. As of right now, here is a list of officially supported controllers. So first things first is make sure you are using one of the supported Xbox controllers.
I personally don't have these devices so I can't attempt this setup myself. However, I do know that XBox controllers do need certain drivers to pair with a Mac computer. I do not have any info on if the update last year to Monterey changed those drivers or if Apple has done any type of update to allow these controllers to link. If anyone has any updates as to how this is going, please let us know. If not, we'll go ahead and close this conversation in another day or so.
Best,
James
I am experiencing the same issue. The Xbox controller is connected to my Macbook via Bluetooth and works fine usually but is not picked up by stadia in google chrome (macbook air m1, macos 12.0.1).
I reported this issue to the stadia support but they not even gived a sign so...
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to check in here and ask a few follow up questions.
Let us know if you have any updates when you can.
Thank you,
James
Hi James,
thank you for getting back to this topic.
I can confirm that I can use the Xbox controller with other types of applications. It also works in the browser with other applications (tested with Xbox Cloud Gaming).
I did not run Stadia in an incognito window.
Hi @kerstov,
Let us know if that incognito window was able to help at all? I wonder if there might be a Chrome extension somehow interfering with the bluetooth drivers that are needed to connect the Xbox to a mac device.
Best,
James
Hi James,
unfortunately the incognito window does not make a difference in my case.
I am now on Chrome Version 96.0.4664.93 (arm64) and macOS Monterey 12.1,
The Xbox controller ( Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 ) is definitely connected as I am able to open Launchpad with it and it also works fine in other applications as explained. It is just that Stadia behaves as if no controller was connected.
In the meantime I also tried the PS5 controller and this works without problems.
So it is just the Xbox controller that won't work for me in combination with Stadia. I also tried to get it working on an intel Macbook with macOS Big Sur, same problem.
Best wishes,
Kerstov
I've also been having trouble with my Xbox Elite series 2 controller. Sometimes it connects and works with Stadia just fine and other times Chrome won't recognize it at all, even when I close Chrome completely, turn off and repair the controller, etc. It's odd how finicky it seems to be. I'm on MacOS 12.1.
Sounds very similar to my problem, but with Xbox One controller rather than PS4: https://community.stadia.com/t5/Stadia-on-Chrome/PS4-controller-fails-on-Mac-Chrome-but-works-on-iPh.... Hope we get a resolution soon!

Same issue... Xbox Elite Series 2 connected to a Macbook Pro running Monterey... I open Stadia on Google Chrome and the controller will not connect to Stadia. I can press the home button to open up Launchpad, but nothing in Stadia works.
Same here, does not work.
