According to the support page, my system doesn't currently support 4K.
VP9 hardware decoding
To check if your computer supports VP9 hardware decoding:
In your Google Chrome address bar, type chrome://gpu and press Enter. Scroll down to "Video Acceleration Information". If you see "Decode vp9", your computer supports VP9 hardware decoding.
Wondering if someone could help me identify what the bottle neck is. I've had this build for about 3 years, so I could stand for some upgrades, but don't want to spend too much since I'll also be looking for a 4K monitor.
Here's my build, minus the storage and monitors.
Thanks @Ivan , turns out it was probably that I just had hardware acceleration turned off in chrome settings.
I found some additional steps other users might try if that doesn't work: https://www.reddit.com/r/Stadia/comments/i0ir5k/how_i_unlocked_the_vp94k_option_in_chrome_via_my/
I still don't have the 4K option in Stadia, but I believe I need a proper 4K monitor connected for that to work. I now get proper results in chrome://gpu

@evilthemplot Good to know! Thanks for the update
@evilthemplot Your system should be more than enough to decode 4k I believe. Can you copy and paste what you see from chrome://gpu ? For example, here's mine:
| Decode h264 baseline | 64x64 to 4096x4096 pixels |
| Decode h264 main | 64x64 to 4096x4096 pixels |
| Decode h264 high | 64x64 to 4096x4096 pixels |
| Decode vp9 profile0 | 64x64 to 8192x8192 pixels |
| Encode h264 baseline | 0x0 to 1920x1088 pixels, and/or 30.000 fps |
| Encode h264 main | 0x0 to 1920x1088 pixels, and/or 30.000 fps |
| Encode h264 high | 0x0 to 1920x1088 pixels, and/or 30.000 fps |
Here's what it says. I'm just nervous to go buy a 4K monitor alone if it's not going to run at 4K. Otherwise I'll have to plan for any further upgrades.

@evilthemplot I did a a bit of research but can't really find a definitive answer. I'll keep looking, but hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be able to chime in.
