I'm new to Stadia and wanted to try it out on my Chromebox. When I try to run a game, it tells me that I need to update Chrome. I go to the "about Chrome OS" window and when I tell it to check for the latest Chrome OS version, it says it's up-to-date. I am running an older Chromebox and its version is lower than the most recent version that's out there, from what I've gathered. Is there a way to get the newest version of Chrome on my machine or is my Chromebox going to be unable to run Stadia?
For reference, my Chromebox is running version 76.0.3809.136 (Official Build) (64-bit).
I have the actual version of Chrome (Version 86.0.4240.183 (official build) (64-Bit)), so I guess there is a biiiig gap between your version on your older chromebox and Chrome.
I guess also as you get that error message that there is no chance for you then to bring it to a higher version (you mentioned you have tried already to update Chrome).
My only idea would be therefore to try a complete reinstall and maybe that way you get a more recent version, but when your chromebox doesn't allow newer versions, then you might need to update the main-software if possible or purchase a newer chromebox.

Just install Cloudready. It's an alternative to Chrome OS. It keeps your brouwser updated and you don't need a Chrome OS update for it.
Thanks all. I'll check out both those solutions and see if I can get it up and running. I have other options to play but I just wanted to see if this would work. ![]()
