Testing Game Period?

Will Stadia provide a testing period for games?  For example a 30 min gameplay so we can see if we like the game or not? I think that would be great for noobs and brokes like me to buy games that we actually really like!

Thanks in advance!

Nice idea, but I'm sure it's not planned.

You can watch gameplay or walkthrough on streams or videos.

So, honestly, it's not necessary.

However, there are promises of demo versions of some games in the other topics.

Yeah you are right! I have seen gameplays but nothing is like hands on!

@Pouyan :

The closest option that is available currently with Stadia is their default returns policy:

You can request a refund within 14 days of your purchase if there is less than 2 hours of play time across all accounts (family and personal). Games may only be returned once, so if you return a purchased game for a refund and subsequently re-purchase it, you will not be entitled to a refund.

So it does require that a purchase is made rather than just a trial period without a purchase, but it isn't too bad an option currently IMHO.

Kudos appreciated if deserved.

Hey @Pouyan,

at the moment there is no trial or demo available for games, you could do the refund per game as Mad_Dog_Bravo mentioned, but that has the risk that if you get a refund but then decide it was a good game and buy it later again, you'll probably not get the refund twice. So I would be careful with that.

If you would wait a little longer, I think Google is planning to implement such a thing. Secretcode has already found some strings and errormessages (see post here), which could be a sign, that this will be implemented at a later time:

  • get:trials
  • Free trial purchase failed because it could not get information about the current user. This is not expected.

Therefore I believe, trials/demos are a thing that could come later, maybe 2020.

I like this idea aswell I have 1 game i really enjoy in my stadia library and the rest just sit there taking up space.

I think people should be able to remove games from their own library if they don't want them, weather redeemed or paid for. Loads of games that people don't want sitting around in people's libraries, is taking up storage space on Google servers. As stadia grows if the problem is not resolved it will start slowing down the Google services,  first storage services such as Google Drive then other services. If it is still not sorted after this the storage problem will bring down Google across the world.

It will only need a decade or so for all Google to crash due to this issue.

It will take 1 year for it to start slowing down storage dependent services the Google offer, such as Google drive.

If we can remove games we no longer want from our libraries, maybe put paid for games that we not playing for a while in an archived area, an area were the data is compressed when data is entered and extracted automatically when data is removed from the archived area, to help save space. Perhaps have like a confirmation code that you send to people when they request to delete a paid for game from their library so they have to get a code from their email to put in to confirm the delete request and another code that you send a week after to confirm that they still want to delete the game from their library.

So game delete from a personal library can be done by the account holder over a 1 week period,  and it takes less space on Google Storage Servers.
