On my home PC (2020 dell G5) and pixelbook chromebook
PC is on 4k monitor (dell u2720q, 2020 model), chromebook on native screen (1600p)
Both browser confirmed having Vp9 enabled. Speed tests show 41.103 Mbps and connection is green.
Stadia pro, with 4K enabled in setting
However, stream quality never go beyond 720p
Hello @Kineto,
I remember ways to force values on Stadia through the dev console.
See here on Part 2. Could you please give a try and keep us in touch ?
Just consider that changes made through the dev console are vanished once you close the tab / reload the page. I recommend you to use the content of the 1st codebox and if not working, the 3rd one.
Could you try the Chrome extension "Stadia Enhanced" and force a higher resolution?
It's even worse. Most Chromebooks on the market without an Intel processor inside won't even work with Stadia at all. Because their CPU is not supported by Google Stadia.
@Ranma I had this issue when my CPU/GPU did not support VP9 codec. You can check in chrome://gpu and check the section on Video Acceleration Information; if you don't have decode vp9 profile etc, then your computer won't be able to get the higher stadia streams to the browser, afaik.
Best of luck!
My hardware meets VP9 codec requirement, so that's not the cause
Same issue.. High end PC, and a fast ethernet connection. Stuck at 720 on Chrome and canary.. Don't get it... I chose not to pay subscription nor buy the chromecast ultra (or controller) because of this.
This is still in beta if u ask me.
Any resolution to this issue? Absurd I get over 200 Mbps and can only stream 720p?!?!

Hello everyone,
Since this is an old topic and now that we have a couple of accepted solutions, I'm going to go ahead and close it. If there are any further questions or concerns about this topic or any others, please feel free to create a new topic.
Thank you,
