Stadia Completely Broken on Linux

So, I currently have *5* Chromium-based browsers installed on my Linux system. Chromium, Google Chrome, Brave, Vivaldi, and Edge. *ALL OF THEM* worked with Stadia in the past. I had been a pro subscriber for like almost a year. Well, I wasn't using it, so I canceled, and recently decided to go back and revisit. The free pro subscription offer from Lenovo would NOT work, for one thing, so I ended up getting charged the 9.99 for a pro subscription (which is bull**bleep**). So since I was charged, I figured I'd use it to get my money's worth. But every single time I try to launch Stadia, it freezes before even finishing the stupid splash screen.

It freezes there every time, to the point where I have to kill it. This is incredibly frustrating. I've tried with h264ify both enabled and force-disabled. I'm on Arch Linux, so everything is the most up-to-date it can be. I've tried in EVERY chromium-based browser (and FYI they all do work, usually), and so far the only one that's worked at all is Vivaldi, of all things. Google Chrome itself is the worst of all.

Hey @gardotd426

I think it's because of your browser

If you are in the network via WLAN, I would also try it via LAN, this often fixes a lot of errors

If it doesn't help, you can also try some Chrome Browser TS steps and see if those are helping.

  • Check that you have the most recent Chrome version.
  • Disable all extensions in the browser and check if that solves the issue. If so, activate them one by one again to find out which one is causing the issue.
  • Delete the cache & cookies of Chrome.
  • Check if you have experimental Features (Chrome flags) activated:
  1. Go to chrome://flags.
  2. Search a specific theme to your problem with the search bar and check if you can disable this feature, e.g. "enables pointer lock options" or "hardware accelerated video decode".
  3. If you can't find those, click on "reset to standard" in the top right corner to enable the standard-settings of the browser.
  • Check that your Chrome Browser is not blocked by any Malware (check here step 5).
  • Check your PC if there is any Malware/Virus installed that might cause issues in your browser.

I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 and Stadia works (As in, it works right now) on all chrome based browsers that I have tried. (Chromium, Chrome and Brave)

Perhaps some arch linux update borked up your setup somehow?
