Performance benefits of chrome book (over laptop)

Hey all,

Planning to buy into the Stadia platform - largely to play ESO when I’m away from my gaming pc and I’m unclear on the performance benefits of playing through Chrome OS (chrome book) vs Win 10 laptop.

Had planned to purchase an i3, 4gb Acer 714 chrome book on the assumption that a dedicated chrome machine would likely offer performance benefits over launching game on a similar spec’d Win 10 laptop.

Is there any merit to this? Or does it really not matter?

Aside from ESO there really aren’t any other apps that I’d miss / couldn’t be replicated on a chrome book.

Cheers, Jon

I play Stadia on a Windows computer and on a Chromebook. They both work well, though it took a little troubleshooting to get it working on the Chromebook. The biggest consideration is graphics and portability. It would be nice to have a lightweight, fanless machine with a nice screen. Ideally at least 1440p screen with vp9 hardware decoding. Though if 1080p is the only resolution you want to run, then it doesn't really matter what you get. What's your budget?
