No mouse capture on a touch screen computer?

Jump to Best Response

Hi there,

I was trying to play BG3 on my Asus transformer book (t300 chi) via the chrome browser. The game started perfectly fine, but it never captured the mouse (and didn't give the warning about no mouse capture either). I tried both using a mouse via usb-cord and via the keyboard touchpad, even tried with the touch screen, but nothing worked. It did recognize my keyboard input though, but that didn't get me very far.

Is there a problem using stadia on a computer with a touch screen? Does that somehow interfere with the regular mouse capture? Has anyone found a workaround in that case? If that's not the issue, what is?

Hi @Kurodani,

Having a touch screen shouldn't be an issue here. I do most of my Stadia'ing on touchscreen Chromebooks - though of course those are running Chrome OS instead of Windows. Still, it seems like the browser code should be the same.

Have you tested with the Edge browser to see if the pointer lock works any better there?

If that works, you might see if using Stadia in a Chrome Incognito window also works.

Let me know how it goes!

Using Edge, incognito mode or the app didn't help regretfully. Is it possible to install Chrome OS as a dual boot on a computer? that might be an option in that case.

Hmm, I'm not sure. It's certainly not possible for official Chrome OS, but there may be some community projects built off of Chromium OS which may do the trick. I'm afraid I don't have any experience there though.

The fact that you have the same issue with Edge makes me think it may be something to do with either Windows or another app, but I'm not sure what else to suggest to try to narrow that down further.
