I use a PS4 gold headset when playing Stadia on my PC with Chrome browser. Just recently for unknown reasons, the microphone is no longer detected in party or game chat. Audio to headset works fine.
The headset microphone does not work when logged into Stadia's website when connected to my PC via 3.5mm jack, usb adapter, or wired Stadia Controller's 3.5mm port. The headset DOES work when it is plugged into the Controller and playing on a Chromecast Ultra.
I have also tried a android tablet, same issue. It appears the microphone just wont work when using Chrome browser on Stadias website but just fine on Chromecast. I even tried Microsoft Edge.. no mic.T headset and mic work fine on other sites, Google voice, audio recording website, discord etc.
Please help..
It works fine now... Stadia support emailed me and said they fixed the issue on their side.
I have the same issue on my headset with USB-C. I can hear and works fine in all other platform, but didn't work on Stadia.
Another team player faced the same issue with a Wireless one.
I also have an issue with my headphone not working. It sees the headset connected and I can hear fine, but I get a message that a Microphone is not connected.
Wireless headsets below connected directly into the controller via mic jac or USB do not work.

Lower tier support indicated higher tier support was starting to see a trend, but they can't assist.
I'm hoping Stadia will start to support bluetooth audio so my Sony's can connect without any issue soon.
Just bought the Sony headphones today!!! And Stadia is saying No microphone?? Hoping they can support it to man. These headphones are great!!
It works fine now... Stadia support emailed me and said they fixed the issue on their side.
Wait, what's the solution to this? I only see a post saying it was resolved but no solution on here...
the solution was that Stadia had to update it and suddenly worked again.
I got same issue here, did you contacted them directly?
Hi MrHugepants, do you know how Stadia support fixed the issue? I tried to contact them but they did nothing.
I still have this problem. I'm playing on Google chromecast ultra, Sony headphones that I know has a mic (because I can use them to make phone calls via Bluetooth), and I'm plugged into the stadia controller via the 3.5mm jack. Can hear the game and others perfectly, but no matter what I do my mic doesn't work. Party chat, game chat, doesn't matter. I can never talk to anyone. So frustrating.
Same issue here. Stadia controller with Chromecast Ultra. Headset mic definitely works. On my laptop and phone all is good. I get game sound but mic is not detected when plugged into the controller. Were you able to fix your issue?
@JellieDonutz I have the same problem. Support could not help. Did you find a solution?
Yeah, I contacted Google support and they told me I needed to buy a pair of ear buds with a mic on the cord. It's absurd that such a thing is necessary with all the tech we've got available (with all the tech Google has available
), but I just picked up a really cheap pair and they work just fine.
Crazy I have 3 different 3mm headsets and 2 days ago they stopped working in the stadia controller . No audio or mic is working on them.. the headsets works perfect on the laptop, desktop and my cell phone. I have tried 3 different 3mm headsets and all work on my other devices besides the stadia controller like they use I. When I plug in it the headsets they say connected with mic.. I only had this Stadia controller for 1 week and I’m experiencing the same issues as you all.
When im on the Stadia website my mic is connected and says no mic connected and dosent work
I also have the same issue with my mic not working.
@MrHugepants I have the exact same problem. How did you fix it? Support couldn't help me fix it and it has been driving me crazy.
I had the same issue.
Finally, it was simply a permissions pproblem where google chrome had blocked the microphone use for Stadia.
To fix simply, go to chrome settings > Privacy & Security > Site settings> Microphone
Good luck
I had the same problem. The solution is, if you using the chromecast you have to use headphone (with mic included - no wired bluetooth headphones) and then push the google assistente button.
Then your mic gets activated!
I just experienced a mic issue using Stadia on the Android TV. I could hear everyone else, but they could not hear me. My mic was functional, plugged in to the controller and it was showing to be recognized on Stadia. I tried switching mics still same issue. My main mic that was given me issues I've used before on Stadia this way with no problem. I solve the problem by logging in the stadia on my laptop and playing that way It seems for me at least my issue is only with the Android TV right now. I haven't run any updates and nothing else has changed to my knowledge I'm going to try and reset the dongle and see what happens.
Hi @EsseEstPercipi,
I am sorry that you are having this issue. But I do want to highlight that this is an older post. You will get better visibility if you create a new post. With that said,we'll go ahead and close this specific conversation. However, we look forward to hearing back from you in that new post.
Thank you,
James
