Mac OS Monterey broke Stadia

I recently purchased Stadia and had no issues playing in on my M1 Macbook pro. I just updated to the newest Mac OS and now Stadia is broken.

When using the Chrome browser the controller will not connect, then the games will not start. It says something about RTC not being able to start. I can get the controller to connect on my iPhone and play games there, or if I run in incognito mode or even Microsoft Edge. The problem is running through Edge or incognito makes the games unplayable due to lag and hiccups and grossness.

I've tried clearing the cache, disabling the adblocker, making sure the VPN was turned off, turning off location services, etc. Nothing is working. Help!

Hello @Withhonorgraham

Not sure why that is happening.
Could you try using Chrome Canary to see if that somehow solves it?

I don't own a Mac so I am not sure what the latest update does to some settings. :face_with_rolling_eyes:

Hello @Withhonorgraham

I have an M1 Mac mini running macOS Monterey. I just fired up 100 Days to check really quickly, and it worked fine for me. Now, I don't use a controller with this, so I didn't try that, but at least the core features are working properly. Do you by any chance have "iCloud Private Relay" enabled? That shouldn't affect Chrome, but it might interfere with unencrypted traffic from non-Safari browsers on macOS if it's enabled.

I would make sure Chrome is up-to-date, and I'd try running it in an incognito window and with all browser extensions disabled.

Why not Zoidberg?

So I finally got the controller to link up, but it's still having the same problem as before with choppiness and then a saying its going to disconnect. Incognito yields the same result, along with Chrome Canary. Even Edge. I don't believe it's my wifi since my phone connected to wifi doesn't have any of these issues.

Hello @Withhonorgraham,

First off, I wanted to thank both @RXShorty and @JohnZoidberg for their help so far on this post. We really are sorry to hear that you are having this issue. I understand how frustrating the lag and choppiness must be.

If you haven't done so already, please make sure that you have run through all of the steps here in this article: Troubleshooting your Stadia experience. Generally the types of issues you are describing are linked to some sort of network problem. Could you tell us a bit more about your Wi-Fi setup? Is it possible for you to use a wired connection?

Let us know any updates you have for us when you can.

Thank you,

James
