Hello - new to Stadia and overall enjoying it on my aging Mac Pro. I have, however, ran into a crippling audio issue that is as follows:
In Chrome, everything works as expected until I grant Stadia access to the microphone upon attempting to invite a friend to join a game. From that moment forward, regardless of game or settings, the audio becomes a choppy mess with intermittent moments of clarity. All games are unplayable and I've not found a way to reverse the effect. Even after going into my system preferences and removing microphone permission. Changing the audio source makes no difference.
I then tested it on a clean install of the Brave browser (no extensions) and the games worked fine. Everything was working without any issues and then I attempted the same thing, "allowing access to the microphone" and from that moment forward the audio made the games unplayable. Also, as far as I can tell, irreversible.
I tested on a fresh install on Edge (I never thought I'd type that...haha) and this time I "blocked microphone access" when asked. Everything works great, and no issues to date. I ended up using another app for voice chat and all has been fine.
Has anyone ran into this issue and is there a solution that will enable me to use Stadia again in the other 'infected' browsers?
Specs are:
Mac Pro (2011)
Mojave (current, up-to-date)
500 down/500 up fiber connection
Chrome (current, up-to-date)
Brave (current, up-to-date)
Any wisdom would be appreciated, or if this is a bug, I hope it helps track it down
