Launching game results in black screen

I have tried enabling and disabling extensions. I have tried launching in Incognito. I have checked my Chrome version. I cannot get anything to reliably run. When I click the Play icon for Destiny 2 or Samurai Showdown, the browser does as expected, goes full screen, shows the game splash, shows the side fly-out menu about the Stadia overlay, the screen goes black, then a message about having the headset and mic connected pops in the upper right corner...then...nothing. Exactly one time, in Incognito, I got Destiny 2 to launch in my Chrome browser. Very frustrating. The most hilarious thing was, one attempt at running the game, I just let the black screen go while researching this issue and reading about the launch. I pull up the browser window after a while and it has the survey screen asking how my play session experience was!! Hmmmmmm This is on a windows 8.1 Pro machine with Chrome Version 78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit).

Local network issue perhaps (blocked ports that Stadia needs)? You could try logging into Stadia in a Chrome guest session (=all extensions disabled) maybe.

I have the same problem. I tried tinkering with the ports in my Router, Windows Firewall and Anti-Virus. None of them really worked well. What worked but is not described anywhere is to disable the hardware acceleration inside Chrome settings. Games do launch now but they are very unenjoyable for me. Still trying to find out if my connection is too bad (between 14 to 34 Mbps on various tests through the last 3 hours). My fear right now is that hardware acceleration is kind of a neccesary  thing when it comes to fast decoding the stream. So yeah try that and maybe we will hear from google about that acceleration thingy.

Cheers

Just a note, in case anyone else stumbles ontothis post - I had the same exact issue and disabling hardware acceleration did the trick.

Guys, i've got the solution to the problem:winking_face:

I think the problem is Windows 8!
Select Chrome, go on proprieties , then compatibility, set "run the program in compability mode" and choose Windows 7, apply and close.
Now restard chrome, go on stadia.com and run the game.

This way i solved the problem and i hope i have helped you all too!

@fourdegrees :

Might be worth taking a look at:

Some items that I've picked up this week include:

1. Reset Chrome flags - go to the URL chrome://flags , select "Reset all to default", restart Chrome and try again.

2. Run Chrome and use an Incognito window and see if that helps, disable any extensions that might have been added.

3. Reduce refresh rate on mouse pointer (usually a feature on some mouse drivers).

4. Access Chrome flags and enable the feature "Enables pointer lock options".

5. On Windows 8 run Chrome in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

6.  Black screen on Chrome, try: Chrome flags and set Hardware accelerated video decode to Disabled.

These are some of the suggestions that I've seen that have addressed the issue for some users.  Can't hurt to give them a try and see if it resolves any of your issues.

Kudos appreciated if deserved.
