Issues on linux with Pop!_OS

So I finally got my invite code and tried loading up Stadia inside of my Pop!_OS computer since my controller/chromecast hasn't arrived yet only to run into issues. Half the reason I pre-ordered Stadia was because I'm a full time linux user and had no desire to load up Windows to game nor buy a console.

Using Chromium installed via apt and the default system repositories I can not load any game. It simply sits on the game splash image with the spinning circle loading icon. However I am able to use the game overlay and even with my xbox one controller.

This is the screen I'm stuck on

I tried installing Chromium using snap and I was able to play Destiny 2 but not with my controller. Only mouse and keyboard would work. I'd prefer to be able to use my system install of Chromium instead of the snap install but for the life of me I can't figure out what would be different between the two different installs of Chromium on the same OS.

It sounds like it may not (yet?) work with Chromium:

Can you try installing Chrome instead?

Well it does work with chromium if I install it via snap. https://snapcraft.io/chromium The issue with the snap version however is that I can't use my xbox controller with it. Also the interface doesn't match my window manager but that's unrelated. What I would love to know is the difference between the two chromium installs since I would much prefer to use my system install via apt then the snap.

I just installed the Chrome deb and Stadia works with that. I don't have my controller with me to test but hopefully that works as well.

If you load and version of chromium and it "works" consider it a fluke.

Only the official chrome app is supported.  Just use chrome for Stadia, and use your preferred fork of chromium for everything else

Chrome stable on Linux Mint here. Works without issues.
