Increasingly diminished streaming quality

Jump to Best Response

Stream quality is becoming increasingly diminished over past couple of months even during off-peak times. 5 out of 10 times I sit down to play a game I am unable to!! I've checked my broadband download speeds are fine. Is there any way of complaining or getting a refund for these months of interference??

I'm playing on Chrome on a Mac. Playing Grid most but also other games.

Hello @JamesR1

Most of the times these issues are related to your home network.
Did you try playing with a ethernet cable?

If you use WiFi are you connected to a 5GHz WiFi?
And could you try a Chrome Incognito window to see if that helps. :smiling_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I will echo what @RXShorty said. What are "peak times"? Can you provide a range of time when you experience this diminished quality? Who provides your internet connection? For instance, a friend lives in an apartment complex and highly populated area, so they experience speed degradation on their home network because everyone else is using internet in that region (bandwidth loads are often "shared" in more densely populated areas). I, on the other hand, live in a house in a fairly suburban neighborhood and pay for faster internet. I experience no degradation in Stadia quality at any times that I've played, except when there's been a problem with my home network. Usually a quick reboot of the modem/router will do the trick.

Hi. I dont think its my home network. I'm always connected to wifi and sometimes Stadia works fine and sometimes not. The service seems to diminish during peak hours (evenings and weekends). So I doubt an ethernet cable will fix it. I've read people experiencing similar issued online during peak hours. Is there any way I can contact Stadia support directly about this. Anyone have an email address?

I mentioned in my OP; "I've checked my broadband download speeds are fine." My download speed are 50mb/s but Stadia is still glitching... therefore problem must be Stadia! Peak times meaning evenings after work and weekends. No one actually addressed my question regarding contacting their support to request a refund.

Hmm, no response. The google mods obviously don't reside here. Disappointing

I've also noticed it since I can easily switch between my Stadia Pro and my Geforce Now 3080 membership when playing on my PC. I get more unstable quality using Stadia than I do using Geforce Now. I usually report it to Stadia whenever I notice the difference.

Hi @JamesR1,
We're sorry to hear that you've had a poor experience with Stadia. You can view our return policy here. And here is the link to reach out to our support team.
I think why a few people have suggested asking you to try using an ethernet cable, is because it's not just about the speeds. It's also about the network stability. Using a wired network connection always provides the best network experience.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,

James
